Any one buy the arbor press and matching dies here in Canada? Or the hand dies? I would like to see if they make a round as good as regular press and dies. If you bought your here in Canada let me know. Looking for 6ppc.
I am looking for a system to carry and reload while on the bench doing load work up. If bench rest folks use it there must be a reason. I load good ammunition on my Forester with great results. Looking for a more portable solution.
I shoot BR. My BR loads are made up using my RCBS Summit press (from XReload) as an arbor press. I use an old die as a ram and turned an extra shell holder to a smooth flat surface in the lathe using a carbide lathe tool. I use Wilson dies that I purchased from Sinclair. XReload in Montreal have some of the Wilson stuff. I love the Summit although I did need to apply blue thread locker. to the screws in order to keep them from loosening.
There are the old lee loader die kits that are caliber specific, I loaded a bunch of 303 and 243 using them when I was a lad and they worked well but are slow and neck size only. Lee also made a hand press any maybe still does but I have no experience with it.
Busy Bee has a cheaper press that is all you need for benchrest. It does not require much strength to insert a bullet into a not very tight target round neck.
If you need something for full length re-sizing, that is another question.
Princess Auto has the press. Dies are available from most suppliers. I used this setup for awhile, then built a small shop where I shoot and keep some equipment there.
I use the Forester and/or Lee seaters now. Seem to be as good as any.
