Any one notice a complete lack of short (14") mossberg barrels? Can I get a gunsmith to shorten up my 500's barrel to match the magtube? I can't do this myself without reclassifying it prohib, correct?

The reason they are scarce is because the U.S. Dept. of State began restricting their export from the United States. The only new production of short barreled shotguns that you'll see for civilian sale in Canada are those from other countries, such as China and Italy.

Under Canadian law, you could have your shotgun re-manufactured with a new (short) barrel, if you were able to source such a barrel, but you cannot have your existent barrel shortened any shorter than 457mm.

Place a WTB ad in the EE. A Seller will find you.

Doesn't matter who does the cutting, going below 457mm will create a prohibited firearm.

get in contact with NEA or Dlask, they might be willing to manufacture you one. They manufacture short 870 barrels, so maybe they will do a mossberg version if there is enough demand

Does this mean if you want say a 12.5/14" barrel itd be easier to just get a rem 870 and follow the outline in the sticky at the top rather than a mossberg?
