For a comped gun, you really need to load your own. The comp can eat up a large portion of the thrust against the breechface, and the guns are often sprung very lightly. Loading ammo for one is a balancing act between making the PF, and having enough recoil and spring rate to cycle reliably.

If any commercial reloader can do it for you, Wolf is the one.

you will not find any commercial loads that make major in 38 super. you will either have to find a custom reloader or else load for yourself. Usually wholesales in Calgary (sometimes Edmonton) will carry winchster 38 super brass. BDX for bullets. Powder is a hard choice. most of us in Alberta who are shooting 38 super are using either SP85 (no longer available) HS 7 or H108, all from Hodgson. Howefer there is one fellow that i know of that is using an IMR powder. PM me and i can get the info unless he reads this here and responds directly to you.

http://www.wolfbullets.com/ He can make any load that you want, just call him.....oh and it will be MAJOR load!

Actually anything combo's that you or your gun like.....
FYI - He has minimum quantities for custom orders, and will only load super with new brass and certian powders. (Remember that 38 Super loaded to major, in a lot of cases, is beyond sammi spec and legal issues exist.)

Yap but looking at his web site there's a lot of choice and if you cannot get loaded from that choice...........for the minimum I would assume 1000rds?

Any dealer ie Russels, Le Baron, Wholesale or any other gun shop should be able to get the Winchester Super brass if they get anything from Winchester........the difficulties is to get the Super Comp...since the major factory doesn't make it....

rimless??
how can it be rimless .
waht is super comp use for?
john442

"Rimless" like 9mm, 45ACP, 40 S&W - ie. It has a rim, but it does not protrude past the case. 38 super is "semi-rimmed" It has a small rim protruding. Revolver rounds like 38 Special and 44 magnum are considered to be "rimmed" cases.

Super comp is used in 38 super guns to solve feeding issues that some supers might have.
Theoretically, in a double stack magazine, 38 super's "rims" can hook on each other and slow down feeding.
Although plenty of 38 supers are out there working just fine too. - this eliminates a possible flaw.

Also, if you are in the USA and are running a 30 round magazines, some have found that once 30 38 supers are stacked, the little rims add up and cause the top bullets to point downward instead of up to the feed ramp.

Any 38 super gun can use super comp, (38 Todd Jarret, MCM, and a few other names) by replacing the extractor.

You used the same examples that I would have uses, with one exception....

38 Todd Jarret (38 TJ) actually has a very tiny rim to help the extraction, but doesn't hook the next case. SC case are also thicker then the 38 Super and the TJ a little thicker then the SC.....

I concede to your vast years of experience.. :p :D

Thicker sometimes is not a good thing, BTW...

Hey Doon

wholesale in Calgary usually carries 38 Super Winchster brass. i have bought it there for years and years. however having said that i was in Wholesale in Lethbridge the other day trying to get primers and there were almost none anywhere in the system. according to the clerk, they are waiting for the spring order.

email me if you need a hand.
