Where do the Canadian owners of K31 buy 7.5x55 ammo?

I ended up resizing .284 Winchester brass. It works fine. 7.5x55 Swiss works great with Varget.

Could you please post a picture of both side by side?
How hard is it to resize? (what equipment do I need?)

The job of making 7.5x55mm out of 284 Win is easy. All you need is a good set of dies (I use RCBS) and the brass. To lubricate the brass I use Hornady case lube and use very little and ensure the shell holder cams over at the top of the stroke then just run the brass through the die making sure the case mouth is lubed on the inside. Next is trimming it if needed. The Sierra 50th Anniversary Manual has really good loads listed in it .

Not much difference. The resized case has the shoulder set back slightly and of course the neck is wider.

Resizing is easy. You just lube up the case and run it through a regular 7.5x55 Swiss full-length sizing die. Doesn't really matter which brand of die you get. I found that for resizing, Lee's case sizing lube works really well and it's cheap. With .284 Winchester brass you don't have to trim it to length afterwards since it's a hair shorter than regular 7.5x55 brass, but not enough to be a detriment.

One thing to keep in mind is that for the K31 you have to full-length size your cases every time.

I neck size and have had no problems. I think the "no neck sizing" for the K31 comes from trying to partial neck size using a full length sizing die. I tried that with cases that would chamber easily and they would not chamber at all after partial neck sizing. I'm using the Lee collet die to size the neck and I'm on my 4th loading of some cases and no problems at all. The K31 chamber is very generous for the size of the 7.5x55 case dimensions and it really blows out alot. You can really see the difference between the GP11 in the pic and my neck sized .284 brass. Personally, if I think the brass gets worked too much full length sizing everytime.
And for the guy that was asking about the differences, .284 has a rebated rim, but poses no extraction problems in the K31 at all.

To arrive at the right, do you push in the bullet? Pardon my ignorance, I only shot factory ammo before.
The one on the left is factory GP11 with a 174g cupro nickle FMJ bullet. The one on the right is my reload with 150g hornady FMJ moly'd, seated to cannalure. Just different bullets with different shapes. The K31 has a very short throat and OAL will be considerably shorter with most .308 bullets than it's listed in manuals.

How do you like the moly bullets? I have some 168gr .308 Hornady HPBT bullets sitting here in a box, but I haven't gotten around to loading anything with them yet.

I moly my own and use them in almost every rifle I load for. I use it for the reduced fouling and shot to shot consistancy. What got me started on it was a Savage 22-250 that would copper foul like crazy after only 15-20 rounds. It would group under and inch for the first 10-15 rounds then open up to 3-4 inchs because of the fouling. Using moly I could get 90-100 rounds through it before I needed to clean it.

Neato. Can you moly lead bullets too or just copper?

Do you use one of those tumbler kits to coat your bullets?

I never tried to moly lead. I just use a medium sized pill bottle in my tumbler with a couple small steel ball bearings. Put your bullets and a wee tiny bit of Lyman moly in the bottle and tumple for an hour. Does a real nice job and is easy to do.
While we are on the K31 subject, board member Diopter is doing another group buy of St.Marie target sights. These are a very nice addition and really bring out the potential of the K31 as a serious target rifle.

Graf produces 7.5x55 brass if you don't want to resize 284.
Yeah, but good luck finding a cheap and consistent source. You can get .284 Winchester from lots of places.

I have the St. Marie clamp-on scope mount. I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet, but it seems solid enough.
