A guy at work told me he just bought some ground corn cob from the coop and used thst in his tumbler because it works really good and is really cheap. But I cant find it anywhere. What are you guys using thats cheap and readily available?

I just paid under $20 for a 50lb bag of Walnut from my paint supplier. I got it at cost but his original cost quote was $35 for the 50lb bag.

Try local building supply stores, independently owned stores are probably more likely to have it, or be able to get it.

If you find someone able to get it for you. You want a 12/20 screen size. Do NOT get the 40/60...this stuff is finer than soft beach sand, in fact I have a 49.5lb bag of it for sale....CHEAP....if anyone is local and looking for a nice fine polishing media.

Same here - they call it Lizard Bedding or so.
Skip corn cob all together. I also add Tarn-X to the media and brass comes out clean and shiny in no time - 30-45 minutes for 300 cases.
+1....I buy crushed walnut from a pet store, lizard bedding, for $30.00 for 40 lbs...why buy any other way?.....

I buy crushed walnut from a local industrial supply store, its used regularly for sand blasting stuff. I pay $15.00 for a 50 pound bag and use only for case cleaning and polishing.

Manus Industrial Abrasives in Edmonton. They have dozens of different media from plastic fluff to crushed steel slag. A 50-lbs bag of medium sieve walnut is $22.

+2 on what Batlerifle and Jaydeee are saying - paying more for the same thing bought in a pet store doesn't make much monetary sense.
