In particular, I am after the Winchester Supreme 34 gr., and the Remington 33 gr. V-Max type ammo for .22 WMR.

If you don't buy the ones above, what do you buy, and where? (I am just getting in to shooting .22 WMR).

Shipping can be steep for ammo, and I don't mind poking around local shops.

Bass Pro isn't close, but I think I got Supremes nad Remington Accutip+V there. The Remingtons were close to $18 a box, and the Supremes were the most inaccurate .22WMR I've ever used in my Savage. Also, they were the only .22WMR ammo I've ever had FTFs on. Probably 1/10 bullets wouldn't even fire. Some had dented cases right out of the box!

Wortners in chatham. He always has stock of polymer tipped bullets. Cci. Rem accutip and hornady vmax

Sounds like the place to go for one stop shopping!

Aside from the premium price, how did the Remington cartridges work? Were they accurate?

Baron MTL is all out of CCI rimfire as i bought the 3 last bricks yesterday 2 of Stinger and one of 22 mag Maxi-Mag... JP.

I'd heard they were in Savages, which is why I took the plunge. They weren't as accurate as Hornady 30gr. V-Max, but nothing I'd tried was. I'd also heard that the Winchester Supremes were the most destructive on gophers :) so when I discovered they were "minute of grapefruit" accurate...and 1/10 didn't go "bang" at all, I gave-up on them.

Looks like I will have to just buy a bunch of different brands and see what I get in terms of accuracy. I had heard the Winchester Supreme 34 gr. were indeed something to behold, with respect to killing efficacy, followed closely by the Remington, and CCI. The gun I have on the way is a Marlin, so I don't know if any of them will play nice with micro groove rifling. But yeah, I can see why you would shun the Winchester Supreme cartridges.

I like the vmax 30gr for my mossberg chuckster. Very potent out to about 150yards then they run out of steam. Stay true in flight but I've recovered almost unmolested vmax bullets from jack rabbits at 215 and 225 yards. Just a small dent in the jacket and the loss of the red tip. Still killed the rabbits however. Less then a 100 yards and thing short of head and neck shot wastes the rabbit

Sorry for digging up this old thread, but I just had to reply here and say that I have found exactly the same results in my 93F. The Supreme 30gr JHP are minute of grapefruit at 50m. Likewise, the Remington Accutip-V 33gr and CCI V-max 30gr are both very impressive. Well under an inch at 50m, and that was 7-shot groups. Will be trying the Hornadys soon enough.

Hornady 30 grn vmax are potent, picked off crows out about 175 yards, accurate as heck, next on the list is the cci tnt, but man when those hit it makes a hole the size of a grapefruit coming out
