I live in Mississauga and am wondering where to go and how much will it cost to shoot?
I will need a rifle range that allows centerfire larger caliber than 22.

I've checked out Silverdale, and they have reasonable non-member costs of $20, but it is a little bit far.
Galt Sportsman Club is closer, but their website is down so I can't find any information about them.

Any other choices of clubs in this area with 100m and/or 200m rifle ranges?

I live in Mississauga (Port Credit) and have been looking for a club to join as well. My RPAL was just approved last week and I should be expecting my license in the mail either this week or next week. Right now I'm looking at either Silverdale or the Maple Leaf Marksman Rifle and Revolver Club. Both are in St. Catharines.

At first it bothered me that they are just over an hours drive from Mississauga, but considering there don't appear to be any local options, these are starting to look better and better.

Eastmall and Rathburn is a good spot for shooting. Lots of government housing, a few years ago the Toronto Star named it the wild west, everyone was shooting there!

you guys on the west side of gta have several gun clubs to go to. Galt is now taking members but I don't know for how long (closing registration sometime early next year). You also have burlington gun club. Silverdale has good reviews. Everywhere from GTA is going to be about an hour out. I got it bad, I'm in scarborough... everywhere is so much farther. And no, Target Sports is not an option.

You're gonna have to travel at least an hour. You just have to pick the direction.

ccain, what firearms do you plan to buy once your RPAL comes in?

I still need to take the course, so I have a few months ahead of me to go, but once I have something we could alternate turns driving to silverdale or something...

Plus one on Silverdale Gun Club! I live in Etobicoke and make the trek whenever I can. To tell you the truth, any range will be an hour's drive from the GTA.

The staff at Silverdale are awesome, respectful and courteous.

My only gripe is one (I repeat ONE) RSO who tends to judge you based on what you're wearing (he's a bit of a mall-ninja), but I usually just keep my jaws clamped shut when he talks. It's not his fault his version of manhood resides in brand names.

The ranges offer a chance to shoot/practice any firearms discipline and the staff do respect varying levels of experience. If you're not well versed in something, they help, and if you appear to be competent and safe in something, they're more than happy to let you enjoy.

There is no snobbery there (minus that one fellow I've experienced and mention), and the point is to promote shooting sports for everyone - one shooter at a time.

Completely agree. I thoroughly enjoy being a member at Silverdale. Good folk & great facility.

I'm a member out in Silverdale and can attest that's a very friendly & informative visit every time. Just wish I could get out there more often.

A few guys I've met there are members at Range Burlington. It's always mentiond in passing but all are pretty happy with that club. But it's a very busy club with constant activities. If you're in peak hours (5-9 or weekends) it's going to be a full house.
