Where do you like your CZ optic?

I'd like to mount a red dot or other smaller optic on my 858. I've read through the sticky going over the options, but I'm interested in your experience with various setups. I'm not going to drill and tap my receiver so the side mount is out, so the three main contenders are:
Dust cover mount
Quick rail
Or the handguard mount.

The quick rail seems like an interesting design and would allow for a longer scope if I went that route later. I also like the no tools required for brake down unlike the dust cover mount. Ideally I'd like to set it up for CQB as it's not really a long range rifle.
The aluminum handguard s can be found at reasonable prices as well and I was thinking about one as it would also allow for a vertical grip or something similar.
 
Nea handgaurd mount if it's just a red dot. Easy, safe for the optic, won't cause jams and works. Scout mount is good too but I would not use it with anything larger than a really small handgun profile type optic.
 
Railed dustcover or the NEA upper railed handguard are the two best options, in my opinion. I have a full quadrail forend on one rifle that works well, also. I'll take some photos later
 
Mine has a forward mounted optic. Wish I had gone for a lower rail. If you want to run a micro red dot and have a great rifle for 0-100m ideally, and 100-200m as a competent range, I like forward mounted. If I was going to be anal about precision, I'd put a full sized red dot on a receiver mount. Probably a CompM4 with a killflash to prevent lens damage and as low a mount as I could.

I think CSA makes a receiver mounted QD side rail, in the same general fashion as our border brothers use on AK's. If you have a CSA it's already ready to mount the rail, that's what those extra holes are for above the trigger on the left hand side. Pick and choose, maybe try one of the options out if can before you do it.

EDIT: forgot to mention, don't buy the zahal handguard that has the 4 screws and is a tall looking qual rail. Go with either the special forces model (this does not cowitness) or a bonesteel arms or NEA or some other low rail that allows a cowitness. The 4 screw one isn't top tier, or at least wasn't for me.
 
Ok, photos as promised. I like all three of the options I have - all have their advantages and disadvantages.










First is the NEA forend rail. Solid, light, easy to remove for cleaning, and allows cowitness. Drawback is the fact that it only allows for red-dots.









Second is the quad rail. Again solid, still pretty light, sort-of allows for cowitness. Removal for cleaning of the piston requires four hex screws, which is not ideal. Gives lots of options for vertical grips, lasers, lights, optics, grenade launchers, can openers, GPS units, or what have you.









Third is the dustcover mount. Solid, a bit heavy (but weight is to the rear, which is good), useless for cowitness. Removal required for ANY cleaning of the gun, which is really not ideal. Removal of two hex screws required to dismount... again not ideal. Allows any short-eye-relief magnified optic, which is awesome and the real advantage to this mount.






Verdict: I tried the scout mount, which sucked balls. Also tried a number of other front handguard mounts, and the NEA was by far the best. I also tried the side-mount types, and really disliked them - heavy, high, and in the way for cleaning the gun, though I see there are some better ones available now. Still, IMHO if you want a red dot, try to find an NEA front handguard mount. If you really need a magnified optic, or if you have a subcompact and don't have the option of a front handguard mount, get the dustcover mount.
