I am aware of the 85, 75 , Forrester, but don't know about the A II. Looking at picking one up but I know nothing about the A II.
When we're they made ? Reputation for accuracy.?
Thanks gang

A2 came in the early eighties after the L579 but before the 75. The A series are my favorite Sakos. I have a deluxe A2 in 308 that is unfired, and a couple of A1's in 223 that are as accurate as any Sako made. The A series generally had a floorplate whereas the 75's switched to a mag, which in my opinion was not an improvement.
Your A2 is in 22-250 or 243?
Definitely a keeper. Good find

Crap!

Send it my way, and I'll see to it that it's properly dealt with! :)

I have an AI actioned .223, that currently has a waiting list line, of guys that want it when I die. Or sooner. But I'm not getting rid of it sooner...

I'll add too, that I would crawl over an awful pile of broken glass to own a scaled down version of this same action, hypothetically called an A-half. What a great Hornet size cartridge gun that would make, eh? :)

Thanks guys . I scooped it up today from Epps. This rifle has not been shot much and likely hasn't seen any field use. Whoop hoooo. Looking forward to fitting her up with a scope and experimenting with what ammo she likes best. This rifle will fill a niche in the collection between the .22 mag and the Roberts.
Updates to come.

The AII is an L579 with a different bolt shroud and AII stamped on the receiver. Sako continued internally to use the old L series names after they changed to the A series.

I've owned quite a few of them. They are top quality.

The L series rifles were named Vixen (L461 that became the AI), Forester (L579 that became the AII), and Finnbear (L61R that became the AIII/AIV and AV)

My favourite Sako Rifles. Had an AV in 300 Winny I killed several tons of animals with and a 223 A1 with a laminated stock that was awesome. Far nicer rifles than the 75 which got really heavy.

Thanks for the info gang. Much appreciated. The rifle comes with a Sako factory target trigger installed. I am hoping this is a good thing but not sure how it differs from the trigger that originally came with the rifle. Is it a benchrest style hair trigger ? And would this be detrimental in hunting situations?
