Where have all the SVT-40's gone and will they come back?

It would appear that there was at one time a major influx of SVT-40's that flooded the market and has since dried up. A rifle you could get for (from what I've heard) $250 has peaked at over $800. My question is will we ever see a flood of them again? Or have they simply all dried up? I've been chasing this gun since I got my Pal and managed to find a couple for around $500 but were gone by the time I could get to the seller.

I'd say that their influx is over. A lot were lost during the war and on top of that some have been sold off to various conflict zones, I'm sure some have even been used in the Donbass region etc. recently.

Maybe down the road another stock pile in a storage facility will be found somewhere but even if that happens, they won't be $250.00 that's for sure.

We have been very fortunate to get as many here as we did in my opinion.

I wonder how many did make it to Canada approximately

I got mine and don't be selling them anytime soon. Should probably think about adding a bayonet. Would be a heck of a set to give away as an inheritance or sale 30 to 50yrs from now. They are such nice rifles to shoot.

I got one second hand for like $200 a few years ago. Best firearms investment ive ever made, i recently wanted to sell it but its such a cool rifle and couldn't do it. Loud as hell thanks to the muzzle break and functions great.

bayonets cost way too much, they were stored separately after the war and tended to be lost. Thingsmilitary in Calgary has a mixed bag of wartime and postwar rearsenaled ones.

I bought 4 or 5 of these when they were cheap. All are typical refurbs and have no stock repairs. I even got 2 of the factory with the oval with the arrow marking.
I really need to go have a look and see how many I have.

If the whole ukraine/russia situation calmed down and they both got friendly again we would probably see many more and better quality SKS'sand SVT's as that's where most of them were coming from, but since that whole thing started they're not seling too much as surplus

It's like deja vu, same topic every two months. Several times I posted information on sources and numbers of SVTs that made to Canada, however it looks like ppl prefer to speculate and dream.

I regret not buying one when they were basically here's a gun if you buy the crate of ammo, but oh well. At least I only paid 350$ for my K31, so I have that going for me, which is nice.

I agree with the first part, deja vu. Second part - Not everybody - Trust me Horilka, there are plenty of people on this forum who appreciate what you contribute.
