Where in Canada can I find SKS mounts

You want an actual receiver cover with the mounting system built in (like the NC Star Tri Rail Mount)? Or do you want to fix the sighting system to the frame of the gun?

I have tried both types of mount and by far, by a long, long way, the choate type of mount that fixes to the receiver frame is better. The ones that are built into the receiver cover will not keep zero. Even with the little screws to hold it in place, the recoil of the firearm will work the screws loose and you will lose zero after 4-5 shots.

Buy a choate mount from one of the dealers on this site (follow the links at the top) or order it from ebay.

you are right dont waste money on the receiver cover ones. sure they are easy and cheap, and can look good, but over all they dont hold zero.

the only tools you need for the better mount are a drill, proper bit, and tap

Choate ships to canada I bought my choate mount directly from them. They have all the proper permits.

I think the choate mounts are $47 from sksman tax in. he did charge 5-10 bucks on shipping but I ordered a bunch of stuff.

another option (arguably better) is the weaver converta mount for shotguns, but it can be mounted on any receiver that you drill and tap. It is a removable 2 piece design, but it will hold zero very well.

I also hear that Dave from hical canada has a lot of accessories in stock and is excellent to deal with

Bingo! In my experience receiver cover mounts are full of fail from design concept to their lack of function. Save your money for a gunsmith to mount a proper side rail/mount.

Cover mounts suck, as mentioned. If you don't want to visit the GunSmith, then this is the best way to go, IMHO, BC Tac's scout mount. Non-permanent yet rock solid. HiCal sells them...
