Ummmmmm. You obviously haven't tried to buy any for ohhhhhh......the past year.....have you ??? The shortages are partially because of panic buying, and partially because 2 of the primer manufacturers decided to cut out all overtime, go back to one shift, 5 days a week and that's it...they said the backorders were all taken care of...they actually had layoffs. Somebody posted all the info from a financial website about 6 months ago. Nothing like artifically driving up the price of your product by creating an artificial shortage.

No problems buying them here the last two times I went to buy some( 2 weeks ago), and the prices seem to be better than other places. I paid $34/1000 for Winchesters, and after I purchased them I realized the CCI's were $7 cheaper.
Americans bought them all and the factories can't keep up. Seriously.
I don't know about that but maybe it could be partly true.
It sounds more like the manufacturing sector grabbing an opportunity to slow the distribution in an attempt to create more demand and higher prices.

A friend and I stopped at a sporting goods store in Rocky Mountain House aka Rotten Monkey House yesterday on our way to the range. They had all kinds of primers however the price was $44.95 per 1000. The store in Caroline has them for $65. per 1000. The ones in the Rocky store are old stock when he had to pay a high price.
I recall the last big primer scare/shortage/hoarding back in 1994-95. There never really was a satisfactory explanation given for this. At that time I think some of the musings out of the Clinton regieme about taggants in propellants and self neutralizing primer compounds,in addition to their anti-gun utterances,were a big driver. There is a lot of apprehension about the intentions of the Obama crowd towards firearms ownership and this is creating a buying surge for guns and anything gun related in the US. A lot of serious shooters who weathered the last shortage upped their primer stash as a precaution against future supply problems.

I'd like to know who has them at $27/1000.
Now would be a good time to start looking at the smaller, one person operated Gun shops...

Me too, saw this coming from ten miles away. I am completely a hoarder of ammo, primers and powder.
Buy it cheap and stack it deep. People paying $65 for primers? I will be using the same $22/1000 WSP and WSR's for the next ammo/primer scare and the one after that.
