Where to buy 3 inch shackle lock for ammo cans ..?

Go to your local locksmith and order what you want, career experts beat retail shelf stockers every day of the week. When you're at a good locksmith shop you'll find all manner of things that can help with your security and convenience, for instance I opted for fancy Multilock cylinder for the doors on my house but was also able to get some substantial padlocks that are keyed-alike to my house key. I like carrying fewer keys because I carry too many as it is.

If you're that keen on locking your ammo for whatever reason, I suspect a cheap gun safe or even lockable job site box is gonna be more economical than buying large shackled padlocks, especially since an ammo can doesn't hold much ammo so you'll need a bunch of padlocks.

I used the MasterLock 2-inch shackle keyed-alike set of 4 #140QLH (available at HD).

I needed to enlarge the center holes in my fat-50 and 50-cal boxes. I was not able to slip the shackle through original 1/2 inch holes given that you have to approach the hole at an angle. Used a cheap Canadian Tire step drill bit to widen to 9/16 inches. Fortunately I have a small drill press.

The 2-inch shackle doesn't allow the plate to swing up enough for any lifting of lid off the box, maintaining the full seal.
