Hello everyone,

I decided to get myself a Crosman 2289g backpacker rifle/pistol in .22 and I'm looking for someone who carries it. Seems like Canadian Tire and Cabelas are no longer the go-to places for these items.

I found some cheap ones at scopesandammo.com (new units for $79, refurbished for $59), but it's a somewhat shady looking website - after being forced to register to proceed with checkout, they tell you that the only payment option is either EMT or a Canada Post Money Order. Maybe it's all legit, but I just try to keep away from anything that's asking for a nearly untraceable method of payment (wtf? why no credit card option?).

Edit:
Following the order, my package came in within a few days and I was very pleased with the service and items received. In the light of this, I would not hesitate to order from them again with full confidence.

So, anyway... is there a well known & reliable Canadian webstore that sells them? I have noticed that they may be discontinued, as the Crosman website no longer lists them in their product line. Thanks in advance for any info you may have.

:)

P.S. Specialty Shooting Sports says they're all sold out..

I always go to w.dlairgun.com or w.airgunsource.com... they both have them and are amazing to deal with, they will always go out of their way to help you and get any parts you may need.... I have the same rifle and use it alot, just makesure you buy the scope mounts with them cause sometimes they can be tricky to find, only thing I didnt like about it was the stock was dark green, went and spray painted it black as soon as I got it, you may want to check out the co2 verson of it as well

Scopes and Ammo is not shady at all. You buy with confidence. I have made a few purchases from Eric and have met him in person at a gun show, he is very trustworthy.

You can't get a better deal than his refurbished 2289.

Thanks guys, much appreciated! Dlairgun.com doesn't seem to carry that model, unfortunately. I'm glad you were able to confirm that scopes and ammo are honest people to deal with though, as their payment setup did not look very promising to me. On top of it all, I was unable to find any indication of their actual physical address or a phone number. That sort of completely rang the alarm bell for me.

I guess I'll go ahead and EMT the payment this coming Monday or Tuesday. Thanks again!

:)

all the cnt's around my place stock the 2289... but they refuse to stock pellets because "they need a special permit for pellets" even tho they sell firearm ammo...

I just checked DL airgun and they have it listed on their site, you may want to check again

Oh yeah, you're right... it's in the rifle section, not pistol. I checked the wrong one.

That said, the price is pretty hefty... $97 instead of the $60/$80 at the other place. Quite a difference... the only way that'd be worth it is if shipping were free, which it isn't. Thanks anyway for the info!

Edit: Ordered from scopesandammo.com, along with some other extras and a genuine steel breech by Crosman. Service seems pretty quick, I got an invoice right away with instructions on who to send the EMT to. Now all that's left to do is to play the waiting game, lol! :D

bit late in the game but i have ordered from them (stock and scope mounts and got my order pretty quick. they seemed shady at first, but it wasn't alot of money so i took the chance. paid off. hope the same for you!

Eric is not shady at all. I think he took a loss through (FRAUD ALERT) so he no longer accepts it.

If you go to airgunforum .ca he is quite a prominent member. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to airguns and stands behind what he sells.

The above mentioned forum will help you find a lot of info on your new gun. You will be amazed at what some guys have done to theirs.

Thanks for your replies, guys... my package from scopesandammo did come in exactly as promised and everything is A-OK. My doubts were unwarranted and I am very pleased with their overall service, even though the EMT-only payment method was a bit odd (as I've never seen it before with other online dealers).

The airgun was in great shape too, although I am still tinkering with it a bit to see how well it can perform under optimal conditions (will be installing a scope to measure actual accuracy, adding an extended bolt, etc... those Crossmans truly are like the old volks beetles as far as tinkering is concerned, lol).
