Hey, I have some questions about buying Enfields. I have wanted a WW2 rifle for a long time I thaught that an Enfield would be the way to do it, and it is also the rifle my Grandfather used in WW2 and shot at bisley tournements. Where is the best place to buy an Enfield Mk.5 .303..I think thatis what he used. any information would be great.

"...Enfield Mk.5..." No such thing. There's a No. 5 though. That'd be the 'jungle carbine'. However, there is no 'best place'. No. 4 Mk I* rifles, made in Canada, can usually be found at gun shows, some retail shops and on the Buy and Sell forum here.

Actually, if your grandfather fought in WW2 chances are good he used a No.4 - the No.5 didn't really see much use, if any, before the war ended. As for where, if not a local gunshow than here is probably your best bet.

Try the Perth gun show this weekend Dan. You might see one there. You can also do a WTB on the exchange form.

Cheers

ok and yes it was a Mk. 4 sorry about that.. thanks all.
No, no ... not a Mark 4 - a Number 4 (i.e. "... Rifle, No. 4, MkI* ...") ;)

Arguably the best Lee-Enfield No. 4 Rifles were made in North America, especially right here in Canada at the Long Branch factory (Toronto) ...
Ideally that's what you'd want to get as a Canuck ...

Of course if you find the rifle, you will also need the pull through, bayonet, sling, bayonet frog, Maybe a set of P37 web gear, tin hat, Battle dress, ammo boots,.........:D

...and then another Enfield. And another. And another....

They pop up quite frequently in the EE. Real cheap, too, if they're been 'sporterized.' Depends how much of a purist you are, you could go for a sporter, and de-sporterize it.

have a couple of enfields they do good work on moose had a #5 that was doing inch and half at 100yds.some of these rifles can shoot pretty good
