Where to buy AR 308 mags?

I am very opinionated.

I have had bad luck with several different flavors of Armalite AR10 -- all mag related. US Army AMU recommended several fixes to Armalite to fix their mag problems, the simplest was coating of the mag with Robar NP-3 - as they had done that to about 100 mags and saw a dramatic decrease in magazine related issues.

As such I would not buy a system that uses the Armalite Mag.

In Canada our SR-25 rifles are not civilian avaiable, beyond older guns that where around pre stupidity period.
DPMS and Remington (which is based off the DPMS gun) are about the only options in Canada.
As such I would get one of those, and try to put one of our (KAC) XM-110 URX front rails, and a good trigger from someone.

Magpul will be selling their PMAG-LR for $20.00 USD RETAIL
Given the gouging and screwing on the 5.56mm versions it will likley be a $40.00 mag by the time it gets to civilian hands.

Secondly since Wolverine is the Magpul and Armalite dealer -- I think you will find him about as hesitant to bring in

I have to agree with Kevin B. Even though I don't have his experience with these rifles, it's pretty obvious in only a few one way range trips that he's right.

The mags on the DPMS are just a better design. The mags for both are about $75-85 each for the 20/5. But it's pretty hard right now to get DPMS mags. I should have bought more when I could.

Not trying to hijack the thread (at least not too much) but how is the availability of Metric Fal mags? Looking at another semi auto .308 (seems to be an addiction) which uses that system. No it's not an AR. Are the mags decent? I Know they aren't as expensive as either the DPMS or Armalite ones.

Thanks

I'm still waiting for my scope rings to come in so I can shoot my new R-25 and give a range report. I really like the looks of the gun and the fit and finish are quite good as well. If the other reviews are any indication this thing should be a shooter and the camo finish is starting to grow on me. I would like to find a 19/5 rnd mag for it but it looks like I have to wait. Incidently I bought this thing from The Shooting Edge and I gotta say their service is top notch. I bought the rifle on a wednesday and it was at my door on the following monday, I couldnt believe it. I dont think I have ever got a non-restricted gun that fast before. Big thumbs up to TSE I will be back for more!
