I may want to reload some of those Porguese military surplus .308 cases I have lying around, or some of those Prvi Partisan .30_06. Are any of those cartridges reloadable? If so, where would you get the Berdan primers they use?

Well, they ARE reloadable, check surplusrifle.com for details. Decapping berdan brass is a PITA. IMO, the effort is just not justified for a 308 - boxer brass is plentiful and inexpensive. Plus, Berdan primers (which are available, but I don't know where within Canada) will probably offest any cost savings over boxer.

If they're berdan primed, pitch 'em. Berdan primers are expensive if you can find them and it takes a special depriming tool. It's more trouble and more expensive than it's worth.

Agreed [insert username here], but if reloading is your hobby, one might seek the challenge of Berdan.

Before Boxer 6.5x55 became available, I reloaded a lot of Berdan cases. It really isn't a big deal, but for .308 I don't know if it worth the extra effort. I used RWS primers. I believe North Silva in TO is the RWS distributor. You could ask them about availability.
