Hi, I am looking for a ka-bar knife for hunting. Could anyone tell me where to buy ka-bar knives in Montreal?

BTW. Anyone has experience buying from www.greatadventure.ca?

Thanks.

Best to ask Canada Customs about that.

A few years ago I bought a hunting knife from The Sportsman's Guide, a U.S. surplus/liquidation mail order business. No trouble back then, but more recently I notice that knives have joined their list of things they can't ship to Canada, even though they have gotten more into selling to Canada generally.

best bet is to make friends with someone in the military and see if they can bring you back one. that's what i did my brother is back from Kandahar in a couple of weeks and he just bought me one.

These guys are great to deal with and their prices are as low as American stores... plus they are based out of Vancouver so no import fees etc.

Cheers.

If you want a Kabar,

warriors and wonders is the way to go. They have it, you get it. Received my ZT 0350WW from them last year as a present, great ppl to deal with.

If you want one I bought one from great adventure last year and there were good to deal with and it came within a week of ordering it and I am in bc and they are in regina so I dont think montreal would take anymore time.

I don't find the Ka Bar useful for cutting anything. It is pretty hard to sharpen.

I was going to mention this as well. It's really a fighting/killing type knife rather than a hunting/woods type knife. The nature of the edge and style of the point are intended more for penetration and chopping rather than slicing.

I was about to say the same thing. A good knife for hunting should be way smaller and the edge should be more round than a ka-bar to slice the meat using the edge. Ka-bar is good for penetration and fighting, not for hunting.

Something like that : (It's exactly what I have and it's still too big for goose and duck but it does the job fine.)
And Gerber = good quality for the price.
If you want a Ka-Bar, go ahead, I love them, they are amazing knives, just not for hunting.
