Any reason for 620 as opposed to your normal red stuff?

I want to tight my op rod guide.

lots of posts suggest dimpling the barrel + loctite 620.

I don't know if other stuff will work or not....

does JB weld epoxy work?

does permatex work? which one ?

these two are easy to get...

The reason guys recommend using the Loctite is that it will hold quite well, and can be taken apart easier than with JB Weld. All you will need to do is apply some heat, and it will soften.

The RED loctite, the color of the fluid not the bottle, is a Permanent loktite and should only be used on components that you are not planning to remove.

The BLUE loctite, the fluid, is removable loctite. It will harden up after awhile and prevent the bolt or screw from coming apart from vibration. Thats all it does, so it will not last as well.

One needs to peen the surface of the op rod guide surface on the barrel in conjunction with loktite red to do a better job. Now loktite will breakdown with heat. So over a while it will loosen up if you don't peen the surface.

Now there was a post that had a roll knurler that looks like it's the perfect tool for the op rod guide. Just do a search.

the people in Acklands-Grainger Inc. are very nice;

I got my 10 ML bottle, for $15.00+tax;
it is green;

I have got my op rod guide solid, this loctite is not easy to cure in cold days, I left it in garage and it took a very very long time ...for the first 24 hours it was even liquid...

(FYI, I AM TALKING ABOUT MY SECOND ONE, THE FIRST ONE WAS SENT BACK FOR REFUND)

I should have brought it into warm room earlier :)

locktite is anaerobic and likes works best @ room temp. the "red" locktite comes in at least two strengths. 271 and 277. 620 "green", breaks down at a higher temp but is otherwise the same as the "red" types. the blue locktite is not a temporary thread locker it does not fail over time. its used on smaller fasteners AND in situations where you might need to disassemble a component.
