Hey all,

Would anyone happen to know where to buy a Mosin Nagant 91/30 in Ontario and how much it would cost?

Thanks,

get one off the EE - you'll get the best price that way. if you want to pick one yourself try a Lebaron store. They're about 179 there IIRC.

All Mosin’s are arsenal refurbs so don’t expect that all parts would match. Two weeks ago I bought the Mosin/Nagant M91/30 at Shooter’s Choice in Waterloo where I live. Paid $219 plus tax. They had quite a few of them. Mine is manufactured by Izhevsk, nicely refurbished, the rifling is immaculate, bright and shiny, looks like it was never shot. I guess the barrel is new. The receiver and bolt match, the mag has a new serial number matching the ones on the receiver and bolt. All in all, I’m quite satisfied with my acquisition. I have not shot it yet. Only recently got some ammo.
You can also check BullsEye in London and General Gun and Supply in Windsor. They also have the Mosin in stock.

I'm, sure some Canadian Tire have them, although the selection process might be different.
Usually, they let you pick the one you want if you ask nicely....

Thank you so much! I just joined Canadian Gun Nutz two days ago and just requested to join the equipment exchange. I live in Brampton but I'm open to drive around for a good deal.

I've heard from some folks that the ammunition is very expensive and hard to get right now. Is that true?

If you mean the 7.62x54R mm ammo for the Mosin, I paid $349.99 plus tax for a crate of 1,000 at Canada Ammo (free shipping). So go figure. The 7.62x54R mm ammo is widely available.

There is a bit of a problem with availability and the cost has risen by 35% recently, but it is still a great price. Grab a spam can when you buy the rifle!

Tradex has the rifle for $189. And a crate of ammo for $295. Free shipping on the ammo you might even get them to throw in the shipping for the Mosin!!
If you don't want a full crate he sells half crates too!

You didn't notice that the Tradex crate contains 880 rounds. So, $295 for 880 comes to $335.23 per 1,000 rds. Nearly the same price like Canada Ammo. Actually, the ammo I bought from Canada Ammo looks very clean. Having said that, I've been dealing with Tony at Tradex for some time and never had any problems. I recommend him without any hesitation.

Yea I know how many are in the crate, I have a few of them, depends on what you want, I didn't see the combo deal though, that may be your best bet!

Having bought over two crates of each I'll say the two are different ammo. The Canada Ammo stuff works great but is not as accurate in any of my Mosins. Since both are Chinese manufactured I wondered why? I would have thought the newer production would be more accurate because of improvements to the manufacturing over the years.

Between the two crates I can see value in the TradeEx deal simply for the better consistency.

Honestly, what kind of accuracy would you expect from an arsenal refurbished Mosin using a milsurp ammo? First and foremost, the Mosin was designed from square one as a military rifle not a target/hunting rifle. It’s a 3-4 MOA rifle. I can normally get that from mine (Izhevsk refurb) with the milsurp ammo from Canada Ammo. So, I’m fine with that. The major part is a big fun from shooting it!

P.S. I also ordered a 880 rds crate of Chinese 7.62x54R mm from Marstar Canada. Same accuracy as for the one I got from Canada Ammo although manufacturing dates are different.

To be honest I have two Mosins that can shoot the 60's Chinese stuff consistently 2" or less at 100M. No BS here. I have plenty of targets to prove it. The machine gun ammo from CanAm is as you listed typically 3-4 MOA.

Although bullets pulled from each crate show the same diameter, the Machine Gun ammo is a heavier bullet so that may account for some of the difference.
