I'm interested in purchasing my 1st AR-15 like rifle. I've narrowed it down to 2 rifles mainly due to there cost as I don't got shooting lots.

Ruger AR-556 https://www.gotenda.com/shop/firearms/restricted-rifles/ruger-ar-556-5-56-nato-rifle-16-model-8501/
S&W M&P15 Sport II https://www.gotenda.com/shop/firearms/restricted-rifles/smith-wesson-mp15-sport-ii-223rem-556-16/

For either rifle though I would like to replace the current round font handle with a rail system so I can mount a fore grip. The most common thing I saw was a quad rail.

My question here is looking on the web I have only found literally like 1 or 2 sites and they won't ship to Canada. So I was hoping other people had wanted to do something similar and could point me in the right direction.

I'm also open to the idea to a different, but similar rifle which has this component already added. I was hoping spend around $1000 for the base rifle before I start modifying it.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

FYI, quad rails are getting out of favour due to the unnecessary weight and size they add to the fore end and for their cheese grater nature. There are a number of hand guards with M-LOK or Key Mod slots to add components, M-LOK seems to have the nod for future proof modularity though.

I also just bought the S&W M&P15 Sport II and swapped out the hand guard with a Magpul SL. The fit is perfect, no wobble, it adds an extra bit of protection from the gas block and allows a further forward hand hold. Replaced a few other bits too but bought it at True North Arms.
