A couple of us are new to BP, and were told not to use the wood ramrods that came with the guns. Good advice as my friend has already broken his trying to "get the ball out". We were told to try Wholesale Sports here in Edmonton, but they only have 24" rods. Anyway, anyone know who might have some - preferably in Edmonton (or at least Canada)? - thanks

For a ramrod I have bought 3/8" brass round bar at metal suppliers and had the ends drilled and tapped for what ever thread my attatchments are.

dixie gun works in the states, or make yer own if handy with steel or brass rod from cdn tire or princess auto just gotta be imaginative, i made 1 fer my brown bess, another fer a mississipe musket, made a fibre glas one fer my hawken ( got rod thru dixies)
i started a nother thread in the bits an piecs section under re-enactors heading about this kinda thing, ok?

Call Jack at 2 paws Trading in Nanaimo BC,he has Poly ram rods (unbreakable) Brass (range) rods, short starts. He has everything you need in BP supplies.
The poly ramrods are longer than you need, so you can cut them to suit, don't forget to tell him the dia. also, they are not all the same.
I make my own from 3/8" brass round stock and antler.I just drill and tap the antler and thread the brass and screw it on.The ramming end is a little trickier, you have to drill and tap the end 10-32 threads.
Cheers nessy.

I have a few of the rods nessy is talking about they're great!! I also like what theDuck has done great idea! did it cost much? Also JWC remember don't pound the crap out of the ball to seat it common mistake I would also like to mention you can buy a co2 attachment that screws into the flash hole should you dry ball it (not that I've ever done it myself or anything) works great and saves allot of fooling around.

Buy a pair of CB. Antenna's give one to your friend and you will each have one. For the internal threads on one end for your jag to screw into get one of those insert tools and drill a hole in the end then install an insert and you are off and running.
Thanks Ken

I bought a T/C rod from Wholesale in Lethbridge. 31+ inches long. I also have a 3/8 X 36 piece of aluminum that I bought at home depot that I had drilled and then tapped the holes myself. I had the ends drilled to different sizes so I could put different types of ends on the rod. I think the 2 common sizes are 10-32 and 8-32. Good luck.

Brother replaced his wooden ramrod with two aluminum arrow shafts, one inside the other, and the insert is the correct thread for attachments.
Looks cool to with the camo pattern on the rod. Gets lots of compliments and questions about it

Oh yah Jack is awesome guy great prices and better yet HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT!!! Not many folks out there know a whole lot about BP!

Just got the rod Jack built me and he sent the threaded end, bullet puller etc....told me to send him a cheque.

He cut it to the length I wanted, send the cut piece too and it cost me $32 shipped. How the hell do you argue that one?
