Hi all, I am looking for a new stock for my Savage Mark II BTVS. I have done quite a bit of searching, but haven't really seen anything beyond Boyds. I like their stocks, but it seems like they require quite a bit of fitting for the Mark II - I was hoping to get something that I could pretty much drop in, and preferably unfinished. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Don't know how much you want to spend but there's a fellow over on the rimfire central forum who has a stock duplicator, and will do one for $135, your wood. He's got many of the Boyd's patterns including the Dakota Will, which you can't get from boyds anymore.

PM me if you want his contact info.

Go to the Savage forum on Rimfire Central... I have a sticky there entitled "Blue Danube's Savage 93/MKII Parts Sticky." There are many stock manufacturers listed there. Personally, I think Boyd's is the best of them for a number of reasons; price, options, availability, and customer service etc...

Says who? I put an older pre-accutrigger Mk.II into a Boyds thumbhole stock and only had to dremel a small bit of wood around the safety to make it fit. Whatever you buy, plan on bedding it as well. If the fit is so loose as to allow an easy drop in installation it is too loose for accuracy.
