Where to buy Savage target actions in Canada

I ordered a somewhat modified model 12 VLP DBM from Sport-Action in Ottawa. I contacted Savage and had it build with a target action modified to use the mag, and the target trigger. (I really just wanted the target trigger but to get the target trigger you need the target action. The target action is a single shot, but I wanted more capacity, hence the modification).

I like it a lot, but I have not compared it to other more expensive actions.

so what was the price tag on that modified action if you don't mind me asking? How long did it take to get it?

If I recall correctly (the file is at home) the whole gun, with tax, was a bit under $1,400.00. ( I can check later if you want) Savage said it would take 6 weeks and it actually took 9 weeks which, in my mind, was not so bad. Put a 20 moa rail on it from EGW, and a 6-24X50 SIII scope. I have not had the chance to shoot it often enough but up to now I'm pretty impressed.

It's very easy to just throw in the rounds by hand once the mag is empty (it's only a 4 round mag). I had to increase the weight on the trigger a little bit because if you cycle the bolt too hard the accu-trigger will lock up to prevent an accidental mis-fire. I have not weighed the trigger pull but it's probably around 500g.

Mine is in 308 Win.

So if I am understanding this correctly, the target action was modified to take the factory DBM. I wonder if it would be possible to have Savage modify it to take an after market bottom metal assembly.

There's only one way to know for sure. I imagine that they will likely only do an inlet for the fctory DBM rather than the multitudes of aftermarket jobs but the only way to know is to ask.

the model 12 lrpv. 12 lrp and 10 ba all use the same action the op is referring to. it is an enclosed repeater action. it can ordered through the savage custom shop and was previously, but no longer, catalogued. talk to prophet river about getting anything similar through savage's custom shop.
