Where to buy single shot nowadays?

It sounds to me like the short barrel is a significant factor in his choice. Can only go 18” with an older design but in a single shot break action that’s still pretty compact. I have a Cooey that’s been chopped. I’d like to cut it down further to 18.1” and add a Polychoke to it. One of my “projects” that never seem to get finished.
By buying Turkish you get modern features that the cooeys and whatnot often lack - specifically removable chokes and a vent rib for the one I own. Cooeys MIGHT be better quality but fixed choke without a rib for the same price as a Turkish gun with those features is a no brainer to me.
If Turkish shotguns were as bad as some people seem to think there wouldn't be big names selling them (winchester and Weatherby sell Turkish made shotguns) and they would have disappeared from store shelves by now.
Might be hard to find a 14" one though. You should also consider 18" ones, the barrel is basically the perfect length for folding on those and they should only be a few ounces heavier.

In 20ga with removable chokes and a short barrel? Sure there will be 12ga cooeys with fixed chokes and 28" barrels all over, but that's not what the OP is looking for...

I seriously don't know which amateurs came up with the "foldable" thing design.
As useless as something can get!
Why dont they go with some superior well known and proven takedown design of the formerly Canadian gear? It is beyond me.
Don’t mistake me for a Turkish shotgun hater, but I don’t think there is a decent Turkish single shot on the market.
People in general aren’t willing to pay what a good single would cost, so they don’t make a good single.
In fact it’s a very neglected segment of the market, Turkey or not.
The problem is perception: people think a single shot should be cheaper than a pump, when making a good break action single shot should probably cost at least as much IMO

Nothing wrong with the folding design, I have had several. If you get a 20" or shorter barrel they usually fold to equal length and can fit in a backpack. I also had a folding Sinsinatti with a 28" ribbed barrel, shoot many geese with that gun, never had an issue with it.
Huglu seems to be decent. Profit river even has a bunch of their single shots for real cheap. Huglu makes the shotguns for cz so the quality is there. Them and girsan seem to be of a higher quality then most the stuff coming out of turkey.
