I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get these? I believe the only manufacturer is Warne. Maybe your local gun store around the corner from you that I am not aware of?

I would prefer the weaver bases as opposed to turn in dovetail style because I have a variety of good weaver rings of different heights to fit the scope just right and can switch between a high power scope for load development and a lower power for hunting. The same would go for Talley one piece mounts even though they are pretty sweet.

Thanks,

Steve

Does the 84 not use the same bases as a Model 70?

Weaver doesn't even list Kimbers on their bases chart.

I like Weaver mounts, but they really do need to upgrade their line a bit. They still use slotted screws, where the torx and allen types are light years better. Also, many of their bases do not allow for the current shorter scopes to fit, esp on a long action.

I don't think the Model 70 bases would fit because the Kimber receiver bridges are both round and at the same height whereas the Model 70 rear bridge is lower and flattened out a bit, like a Rem 700 or Howa/Vanguard.

The only weaver type bases that I am aware of that are made for the Kimber are made by Warne. I'm just wondering if someone knows where there are some, or maybe what some other Kimber owners have done to mount their scopes.

Make sure to look into the specifics.
You need to order for the correct 84, the older and newer rifles both have different screw sizes.
Look into it.
I went with Talley Lightweights on one of my Kimbers, the other one came with weaver bases.

Weaver bases for the Remington 788 will work, with a bit of work to the bottom of the rear base for clearance of the bolt handle

I wish my rifle came with mounts. It's a Kimber Hunter new from Reliable Gun. It's the basis of a semi custom project. I'm changing out the stock for one from Wildcat Composites. It should weigh in at 4.25lb without scope. Unless I find a way to scope it it's gonna stay that light lol

I think I'll try Western Gun Parts. I see they are a dealer for Warne who makes the weaver bases for the Kimber.

I went with talley's on my 84L and my 8400 magnum, the receiver is different between those two as kimber shaves off a lot of meat for the standard cartridge action compared to the magnum action. Pay attention to what your buying, the profile will be different. I second the "go with talley's" as mentioned earlier.

I've had Talleys before on another rifle and really liked the look and lightweight. I feel like with all the users here recommending Talleys, that I might better go with those. Talleys it is then. Thanks all for steering me in the right direction!
