Where to find a 4-24 zoom scope?

I'm after a scope with a magnifying range of 4-24x. Preferred 30mm tube and 50mm objective lense.

Anyone know where to look for such a scope? I'll consider anything. General use, hunting and target shooting.

5-25x seems really popular, but I like the lower magnification setting to be no more than 4x for hunting. I find anything over ~24x to be unnecessary, especially in SFP. No preference between SFP and FFP.

Are there any hidden gems available in Canada at the moment? I haven't had any luck.

Hi,

Generally going from a 4-20 (5x ratio) to 4-24x (6x ratio) zoom adds more complexity, weight and cost. If you stay in the 4-20x zoom you will have many more options.

One option is Vector Optics is a Chinese company that strives to make high quality, innovative and great value scopes. I have heard they make scopes for certain American brands.

The Continental line is well regarded with lots of Youtube reviews. Thery have a 4-24X56 FFP model, it's relatively lightweight at 27 ounces. There are also some other variations.

Canadian Distributor

Manufacturer online shop (not on sale right now, but they have regular promotions)

I personally don't own any but I've thought of getting something from them several times.

Cheers

Is 4-16 too low for mag ? Athlon has a couple in 16 as well as 4-20s, both FFP & SFP. speak with Mystic or other Can dealers like Wolv. I went with 8-34x56 for bench and have a 6.5-20x42 Viper for my x39 and a Bush 4-12x40 for my 308.

Depends how much you want to spend, lot's of options out there but without a price range everyone is just guessing, I have a couple night force 2.5 - 20 x 50mm and bushnel tactical 4.5 - 30 all of which are $2,000 ++ If you want to stay under $2,000 look at Athlon, Arken, Vortex, Leupold, Ziess etc. the choices are endless.

Price isn't much of a factor at this point but I'd want to stay under $2k. As for endless choices, you wouldn't have any examples of Canadian retailers with scopes in stock that have a magnifying range of 4x or less and 24x or higher in a 30mm tube?

I've been casually practicing with a 4.5-18x scope but it just doesn't cut it. I'm looking for a general purpose/do it all scope for hunting and target shooting out to ~500-550 yards. I've used other scopes with mag ranges that exceed 24x but I found I didn't like using a magnification much past that point.

I'll likely never find a scope to satisfy all my preferences but the 50mm objective is just to limit the overall size and weight. A 30mm tube is wanted because I've got lots of 30mm rings to choose from and 34mm rings are difficult to find and expensive (last time I shipped for them).
I'm wanting a tactical style recticle, and low profile, exposed and locking turrets. There's probably no such scope!
The Vortex Strike Eagle 4-24x50 looked promising but it's been discontinued some time ago.

To the Op. Think about what locations and ranges you will be shooting the majority of the time and buy accordingly. Also go to a store and look through some scopes, go out of the store if they’ll let you and look at far away objects and up close objects. It might help with your decision. Researching on the net and watching YouTube gets our heads spinning and searching out all kinds of esoteric features we’ll never use.

For me most of my shooting (99%) happens at my range where I have 25, 50, 100, 200 yard bays. So I really only need scopes that go up to 14 or 16x zoom and that’s if I want to shoot small targets with my .22 at 100 and 200 yards. All my center fire rounds (unless I cook up some subsonic loads) are laser beams out 200. Barely any turret turning needed. I actually have more fun shooting the .22’s out to to 200.
For hunting, nearly all the locations I hunt are either shotgun or bow/ crossbow only so rifles aren’t a factor. The one spot I can hunt with rifle is practically all bush and it’s rare to find a sightline of more than 100 yards.

I’ll swap out a second Gen strike eagle for my first Gen if you wanted.

Some first Gen strike eagles pop up once in a while in the EE

Kahles has a new 328i which has a 40% wider field of view than their 525i. With over 9x magnification and a really great eye box and illuminated reticle with a few reticle options. It does have a 50 mm objective but the main tube is 36mm. This glass is$5269 plus tax so some 36 mm rings arent really a big deal.

I have a Strike Eagle 4-24x50mm, it's an SFP scope built on a 30mm main tube. That's about the only thing I can think of that hits that spec perfectly.

You sure you need 24x on the big end? That's a lot of magnification. There are a few 4-20's on the market though.

Maybe endless was a poor choice of words but there are certainly choices, Vortex Strike Eagle, Frontier 30, Trijicon Acupoint, Zero Tech, Maven RS5, Vector Optics, Leupold V6, or Leupold V5 gets you very close unless for some reason you have to have that exact 4 - 24 x 50mm

I know that a NXS 5.5-22x is a little more bottom end than you were looking for, but anything under 6x i still pretty reasonable for hunting use. The bonus is that the NXS is pretty reasonable to buy compared to the 6 times versions of high end scopes.

I'll take a look at the NXS.

I've used several scopes at 24x or more and found I didn't like going past 24x. For hunting, I've found 4x is low enough for quick, close range targets. I feel that 4-24x is ideal for me, using the "general purpose" 308 Win cartridge. I'll probably have to settle on 5-25x.

I recently acquired a Maven in 4-24X50 - I have scopes in 4-20, 6-24, 4.5-27, 8-32 & 4-32 in 30MM tubes & 50MM objectives by Sightron, Meopta & Nightforce. This scope sits roughly in the middle price wise but appears to be very well built, fairly compact & has plenty of nice features & good glass.

The Meopta Optika 6 in 4.5-27X50 is worth a look too - I've used a couple of them extensively and can't fault them.
