Where to find a good gunsmith for parkerizing in Edmonton?

i just bought an M1 Garand, a nice H&R from milarm. its my first (of many i hope) M1. the rifle is a beauty in all aspects except for the finish. any metal showing in front of the receiver is all silver.

i am thinking of re-parking it and refinishing the wood myself. phoned around and got a quote for around $175 from lock and load. anyone has any experience with their work? or is there someone else anyone can recommend?

It used to be that you could take a rifle to any metal finishing shop. Now though the shop and its employees must be licenced.
Ask Lock and Load what the price would be if you strip the rifle. Take the rifle down to a pile of parts yourself. Don't send any springs and send only the parts you want re-done. Send the gas tube as well. They're supposedly SS and won't take parkerizing. Mine didn't know that when I had mine done long ago and it took the finish just fine.

I had work done at Lock & Load and it was great. You could also talk to Scott at P & D; they don't do the work but he could possibly point you in the right direction.
