Where to find receiver screws for Rem 760?

Hi all, I'd appreciate any input here.

I'm trying to install an aperture rear sight on the receiver of a Remington 760. The screws that I have are 1/4" long and are slightly too short for the job. I don't have any local source for this sort of thing, unfortunately. Any suggestions about where I should look online?

Do you have a local source for Weaver bases? I'd just buy one of the cheap ($8) Weaver bases and use the screws out of it. Just have to check the length of the screws through the plastic. Doesn't matter what the base is for because you won't be using it anyway.

Different bases will have different length screws - might just have to look at a couple of them.

Ah, I see, thanks. I'm not confident my local shop will even have something as common as those bases, but I'll look!

Just curious does this aperture sight fit on top of the receiver or the side?

Do you need a screw with a tapered head or with a flat surface?

I have both (6x48) in longer lengths. Torx head.

Thanks very much folks - Top mount, and I need flat heads. Another CGNer has already contacted me by PM with options.
