Where to find type 81 extended mag release??????

That is a great question....I'm assuming you are stepping on the same rakes as I did on my quest to find one.

After investigating every single Canadian source and realizing it is out of stock unobtanium, I turned to south of the border.
It turns out that this mag release must be some kind of a dangerous baby killing device, because even though I could find some, nobody will ship it into Canada.

Since I wasn't ready to give up just yet, I turned to the rest of the world....and found one in Israel.
If I recall correctly, the outlet was called "Israel Defense"...it took forever, but eventually I got it.
It was the CAA brand, which is supposedly THE one to get.

Now I don't think that anyone makes a specific release for the Type 81..
It is either advertised as Type 81/AK/AKM extended magazine release, or just the AK/AKM.

I will save you some time and $ now...
While the release does fit (it will grab with 2 out of the 3 screws before you run out of real estate since the Type 81 mag release is either shorter or it is because of the different angle), it looks really stupid, because the AK's release angle is pretty straight and the Type 81 has angle that will make it stand out like a sore thumb.

It also did affect function, as it was interfering with the range of motion on the factory release.
If you have SKS-D with the AK style release (not the earlier one regular SKS style), it will work much better there I think.
