I just ordered some basic reloading gear. Does anybody know where a good spot to pick up some heavy 270gr+ hardcasts in 44 mag? Either in the Lower Mainland, or I guess I could mailorder too.

I'm also looking to get some powder and primers. Can anyone suggest a good powder to start with?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hold on. BDX only goes to 240 grs for 44, both lead and jacketed :( .

I've gotten some 300 FN from magnus bullets. Some unscientific testing in clay banks and firewood show that they will penetrate ~1/3 deeper than a 250 Kieth style, though they are quite a bit more difficult to control for repeat double action shots.

AA #9 is a good powder for these, as the bullet takes quite a bit more room and the standard 2400 and 296/H110 get a little cramped
