Where to get a lower?

Hey all,
Going to sell my CQ-311, as I discovered I am not the AR type of guy. But I wish to get a stripped lower, just in case they become prohibited ( cheap insurance against the 12.X ). Looked around a little, but I found nothing under 250$ and I ain't paying this for a piece of metal that I may never use. Who has them for a resonable price? Also, do they need to be locked in a locked case ( seems stupid but so are our gun laws )?
 
Yes it still needs to be trigger locked in a locked case. Pretty tough to do when there is no trigger or trigger guard.

You will probably have problems finding something for under $250.00, they all get snapped up pretty quick when they come up for sale here. CGN is your best chance though.

An alternative is to stamp an aluminum block with a serial number and register that with the CFC. Tell them you intend to make a lower from it. :D

I'd just bite the bullet and buy a lower. You can ALWAYS sell it if you wish.

Then I guess you won't be buying one. The fact that you will never use it really doesn't change the fact that it's still more than a piece of metal.

Or if you want something that's a little more interesting to look at... you could also get a lower forging and slap a serial number on it. Dlask has them for $45 (raw) to $185 (80%)

I likey :D But would it be "official"? Would it make me immune to 12.X ( Pretending they'll be grandfathered and not stupidly confiscated ) or could they just come by and say : Hmmm... this is not a "real" AR, so no privilege for you ?
 
Questar has DPMS stripped lowers for $219.
Website says only two left, so call ASAP.
