Anyone know of a dealer who has Marlin Model 444s in stock ? Wholesale sports has them but its going to take them like a month to get it to me. Everyone seems to have the guide guns in 45/70, but I have my heart set on the 22 inch barrel in .444 Marlin. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply, I just checked their catalog its definitely in there. I was interested in the standard Model 444, but how do you find the XLR ? I was just reading that its specially designed for Hornady's Leverevolution ammunition, what exactly do they do differently ? Is it a problem to fire standard .444 Marlin ammunition in the XLR ?

what about S.I.R.?
don't they have one in stock?
try Sighard at Outdoor Essentials (spelling?) in Smithers.
he has a web site and his # is on it.

I've fired 2 other XLR's prior to getting mine. A 45-70 with a a willams peep and a 444 scoped. Both guns were excellent shooters as are most Marlins the I've ever fired.

The only bug bear that I had with mine was a bit too much side play in the trigger and slightly heavy pull. $80 and a trip to "Bits of pieces" and that should be all better.

They will shoot all kinds of ammo, mine shot 265 grn RN into a 1.25 inch group with the first three out of the pipe!!

They were designed to take advantage of the LVR ammo, but not only that ammo. Stainless/laminate and it has a 24" barrel.

I didn't realize Remington had come into possession of Marlin. You figure Remington will destroy the brand ? Some guys have Pre 64 Winchesters maybe I'll have a Pre-Remington Marlin :D

There's no telling what they're going to do. I figure, they're not going to make them any better. Maybe offer it in desert camo  I have two, a 336XLR and a blued/wood .444. I really like the both of them but that .444 is probably my favourite rifle in the gun safe.
