I've been calling around to gun shops in the HRM and surrounding areas trying to find someone that has the tools to properly check alignment of the rings while mounting the scope, alas no luck. I'm beginning to think that I might as well mount the scope myself and save myself enough money to buy a box of ammo...

I'm looking for a gunsmith that has a set of these (or similar) tools in his arsenal so that I can be sure the stresses on each portion of the scope body are equal. Any thoughts?

One of these guys will point you in the right direction.

edit: You could bring these pics to a machine shop and have them make a set of those for pretty cheap.

As an alternative, What kind of rings do you have your heart set on? Burris Signature Custom Zee rings have self aligning plastic inserts that help alignment and minimize stress on the scope body.

When I bought the scope it came with a set of Weaver rings, and for now I can't afford to get anything else haha. Thanks for the replies guys, I'll try to get in touch with some of the peopel mentioned above by viper7, and I'll bug a local machine shop to see how much getting a set made might be. All I really need is a piece of 30mm tubing cut in half I suppose.
