Where to get a SIG P229 DAO?

I believe that some pistols can be converted from DA/SA to DAK with a simple part kit, you should research this a bit. Altough it might be as hard to find the conversion kit as it is to find a DAK pistol

Sig lists the DAK trigger pull at 6.6 lbs. I would expect the DAO only version to be over 10 lbs. As I said the DAO version is primarily produced for LE where administrators have decided that a long heavy trigger pull is needed.
As Rivalen stated Sig DA/SA frames are compatible with DAK parts. I believe that you would be safe with any frame made after 2006, though as he points out it may be hard to find the parts in Canada.

So if I'm reading this correctly, I can buy a DA/SA SIG and switch out parts to run it as a DAK and presumably DAO ala typical LE guns?
I'm so bent on getting at P229 DAO because that's what the agency pistol is but I'm interested in a 9mm version as I feel that'd be more cost effective for personal training and it's also the round I prefer.
Well that's even easier to do. All you need to convert a DA/SA to DAO is a DAO hammer and hammer pin. That would be much cheaper than doing a DAK converion which requires many more parts. You would have the same trigger pull as your service pistol and the advantage of cheaper 9mm ammo.

I tested both DAK and DAO's for tests and evaluation at work ( switching from sixguns to pistols ) a few years ago. I Loved the DAK trigger. The DAO triggers were absolutely horrible. In my opinion, there is no reason for DAO triggers to exist but to satisfy the white shirts and pencil pushers. Shooting scores actually get worse for the average shooters with a DAO trigger.
Speaking of the OPP I was talking with an officer who said that they are switching to the 229R. I presume that Sig no longer wants to make the non-railed frames or that their contract is up. He also said that they may be DAK's but he wasn't sure. He did say that they will not be issued lights for the rails or a holster that would accomodate a light.
Still though if they do adopt the DAK trigger system that would be a big improvement.

Well then, looks like I'm holding off for a while! I hope this hearsay is true as it sounds like the DAK is superior to the DAO. Railed pistols would also be very nice. Thanks for the good info on the conversion too, kcx223.
