Where to get duracote or equivalent shake and spray kits in canada

Armacoat is the way to go!
Really hard finish that goes on almost as simply as spray paint.
The only extra work over spray paint is mixing the hardener in and baking it for an hour.

I painted a couple guns in the winter and they haven't worn at all. I'm not nice to my guns either... lol

Sent Armacofe an email this morning and got an email and phone call from them this afternoon. Only $20 to ship two shake and spray kits. I'm going to do try it out.

Just did my cz 858 and rem 870, works awesome with the preval spray kit, once you get the mixture right with a bit of reducer. Gives it a nice matte finish and apparently super tough

Make sure you do a thorough degrease and sand blast it with 80-100 grit aluminum oxide to prep, it's worth doing for a high quality finish, just takes a while to prep everything. Saves you alot of money though. You can do it yourself at one of those sandblast places that let you, place I did it at cost only $1 per min, took 42 mins to do my cz reciever, 870 reciever, 4 cz mags and dust cover, muzzle brake, handguard etc.

Not sure how im going to do the sand blasting. I wasnt aware that was a necessary step. The website says everything you need is included... I assumed that meant I could just degrease and spray. Ill have to ask around to see if I can find a sandblaster in the area.

Arma-Coat recommends sandblasting, and I'm sure it would give you an even stronger finish, but I didn't sandblast and both guns I painted have held up really well. Mixture of parts: plastic, steel and aluminum.

I degreased with brake clean, mixed the paint, sprayed and let the parts hang for a week at room temp, then baked for 1 hour at 200*.

Use this advice at your own risk.

Thats encouraging... thanks. I wasnt sure if I was going to bake them or not. Does it smell up the house when you bake them in the oven? (like it does when I bake RC truck tires off the rims... wife is NOT impressed).

Ill have to see what type of hanger I can build for the parts as well... I assume that would be necessary for baking.

I did the baking while my wife was at work... lol
...easier to ask forgiveness than permission. hahahahha

The stuff is toxic for sure. I couldn't even keep the open kit box inside my place and I wore an organic filter mask while spraying.
I let the parts dry in a heated garage for a week before bringing it in to bake, and I don't think there was much smell left.

You need to hang them before you start painting, and use a hair dryer between coats to flash dry.

^Yup, no doubt about that.

I don't have access to an oven that isn't in my kitchen, so that's why I let the parts cure for a week first.

On a pistol, say the slide, how much tolerance is there? IE, "fitting" afterwords? I'd hate to do a great finish, then have to frig it up due to a too tight fit or something

I just got an email from Armacoat. Its pretty clear that a blued finish will need to be blasted to get both good adhesion and a nice matte finish. I want both so ive found a few options for places to get it done. Ive been quoted $20 and 15 minutes based on what I told the guy I had for him to blast. So, not a big deal at all. Even though this stuff is going on a cheap gun, I want it to be done right. The instructions also said the coating is dry to the touch in 30 minutes and completely dry and cured in 3 days at room temp. I have no idea where im going to do this that I can leave the stuff to hang for 3 days undisturbed... but ill figure something out.
