Where to get non-rivetted 5 round m14 mags ?

I absolutely hate rivets in my mags. Having purchased both AR and M14 Mags with rivets, I'm fed up with these mags having issues in my guns. When firing the last round, my bolts sometimes fail to hold open because the rivet is probably not in an ideal place for the mag spring. I never have any issues with my mags that just use followers. My last order of Pmags for my AR15 resulted in 2 out of 5 mags having this problem.

Does anyone know where I can get M14 mags that are blocked to 5 with just the normal follower and unwelded mag plate for proper cleaning/maintenance?
 
there is tack welded bottom norinco mags out there with a welded internal part that prevents more then 5 rounds or just buy buy the Norinco 5 rnd Range Mags that are not welded or tacked just physical only allow 5 rnds
 
Wanstalls had 1 left last time I was in there... I bought the second last one they're welded. I like the rivet because you can take it apart and clean it.
 
My M14 mags don't have rivets or welds. I haven't taken them apart, but I assume that there is a long post on the follower which limits capacity. These mags are flawless, but came with a 2007 gun that I bought used, so I'm assuming that they came in with an old batch and are no longer available, except used off EE. You are correct these mags without welds and rivets are flawless with the long spur attached to underside of their follower. They allow an easy 5 rounds plus almost six for reliability with the 5. The riveted ones on the market now that are black in color with the side rivet, need extensive massaging to geometrically match a reliable mag. I posted in another mag thread what was needed to make these function 100%.

To the OP I would try to locate with WTB,..used 2007-2009 parkerized mags on the EE. Otherwise be prepared to do some sheet metal work on the newer riveted Black ones.
 
Just finished trying the KCI mags from Wolverine. They work flawlessly compared to the riveted versions and you can still take them apart easily for cleaning.

I did a quick google search and see the guys down in the states are less than impressed with the KCI mags. You've really had no issues?
 
The modification must be 'permanent' and must require tools to make it unpinned. Ie: a block of wood is no good, unless secured by some other method.

Plus, wood is heavy and soaks up water/oil/whatever. Makes zero sense to use it in a mag.
 
I emailed marstar a little while ago. They say their Norc mags are non-riveted and not welded on the mag floor plate. They use an internal extension on the follower.

I purchased 2 and they seem to be working fine for me out of my 2009 and 2011 M305s. I bought these with confidence from Wolverines because I've had nothing but positive experiences with their customer service from my previous purchases that had issues.

Compared to my old norc mags, I'd still prefer the finish quality of the norc mags over the KCI mags. As function over form is more important, I could care less how the finish looks.

I'm glad to hear that Marstar is now bringing in the 5/20s with followers again. I since traded my 2 riveted mags for a box of match ammo at the range and I'll never be looking back.
 
Wolverine Supplies sells both the Norinco and KCI mags. I just ordered 2 of the Norc mags which are not pinned but use a restricting plate welded to the follower, the downside is that the bottom plate is also welded which makes cleaning pretty much impossible.

I have KCI mags as well and find they are awful, they require file work and the tolerances of the followers are sometimes too tight causing feed issues, the tolerances in the mag-well vary wildly and can be too tight to seat properly, the spring appears to be added AFTER the rivet is installed and the assembler at the factory if they are not paying attention can under or over pressure the spring also causing feed issues. Also if you attempt to over-load the magazine it can push a coil or two past the rivet causing feed issues. The feed lips are often not bent to proper tolerances causing rounds to simply fall out or slide forward during the loading of a mag causing again, feed issues. The only upside really is that the bottom plate IS removable and therefor cleaning is possible.

From my own experience, avoid the KCI mags unless you're desperate and are willing to do the work to make them usable.
 
The Nork ones from Marstar have a long tab tack welded to the bottom of the follower. The baseplate is not welded. They can be easily disassembled for cleaning.....good mags, just make sure the tab stays centered in the spring when you reassemble them.
