Hi, I've noticed that our choices for "tactical" accessories for black rifles like ARs are painfully hard to find compared to the US (unless i just haven't found them).

Is there someone who sells a wide variety of black rifle optics and mounts and accessories like eotech/aimpoint magnifiers, rail mounts/risers, and pretty much any other cool stuff you'd want to put on a black rifle here in Canada?

Excellent Question.

Beside Target Sport which is a site sponsor.(they have a very limited choice of accesories)

I hope somebody else will answer that question.

There was a non-sponsor dealer mentioned a little while ago... they sold flash hiders and some AR accessories... I think they had the FSC556 that I'm looking for. Anyone know the dealer I'm trying to think of????

Dlask arms

Try looking at Dlask arms , they have a very nice Vortex knock off that works well for me ( I have it on 3 of my Ar's )

Also Fab sports is easy to deal with ...

Hope this helps

what's wrong with bringing stuff across the boarder ?
I crossed at the peace arch the other day and spoke to a " Canadian " customs agent, who deals with this sort of thing a lot, in regards to bringing up scopes, optics, stocks, mounts and ammo.
He told me as long as it's not prohibited in canada there isn't a problem. He referred mostly to hollow point handgun rounds .
I found this surprising because I thought regular citizens couldn't do this.
Not that I'm an expert on the rules. In fact he said its surprising the amount of ammo you can bring back with you.

Uh, the problem has always been with US EXPORT LAWS. There are many many many threads already on this. Maybe a quick search would enlighten you.

If you were stopped at a US Border Patrol exit checkpoint (rare, but exist) and have controlled firearm parts in your vehicle with no export papers, you will go to jail.... (or cuba depending on the colour of your skin :p)

lol even though they don't actually have a Vortex knock off, it was actually Fab Sports I was thinking of! Thanks, all I remembered was that the site I was looking for had a good variety of flash hiders! And thanks for FabSports for confirming it.

.

Aside from essentially everything else that fireball stated being wholly incorrect....ya gotta' love that statement that hollow point "handgun" ammo is prohibited in Canada!:rolleyes:

I don't disbelieve the CBSA guard uttered those words. We've all heard the same BS issued from the mouths of those who enfore the "law." Gotta' shake my head that this is still making the rounds after so many challenges, etc...When is this urban myth accepted as fact by "official" law enforcement agencies ever going to die?

It is trying to enforce patently incorrect and non-existent regulations that brings the entire rule-of-law into disrepute.

Same goes for RCMP pulling over hunters or target shooters and arresting them because their non-restricted long guns or shotguns aren't trigger-locked in their gun cases.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse nor defense for us civilians, why do we hold law enforcement to a LOWER standard and why are they protected from the consequences of their ignorance by their respective agencies?

As already mentioned its the export laws of the US. Drive to Kesselrings ( get of at 240 on I5 ) try to buys somthing with a Canadian credit card. They know the rules and will not deal with you if they know you are Canadian

The vast majority of internet stores in the US for Ar parts, optics etc will not deal with you if your Credit Card has a Canadian billing address even if you are shipping it to a mailbox in the US

BTW - US Customs does make random roadblocks at Peace Arch and Pacific crossing checking to see what people are taking out of the US

I have been through 4 this year.

The fact that the border guard that you spoke with doesn't understand the import rules for ammo should be a hint not to believe anything he says

Read page 2 section 5. Clearly states hollowpoint handgun restrictions no longer apply

Actually, not a urban myth. The Importation of loaded hollowpoint handgun ammunition was not permited without proper permits until 2002. Lots of law enforcement / customs guys are not aware of the change. Now you can import 5000rds without a permit

See amendment memorandum for CBSA , page 9 outlining change dated 2002

I found this out the hard way 15 years ago

As sogetthis say's, you aren't breaking Canadian laws, you are breaking US laws. Unless you have a valid Form 6NIA and an export permit, you cannot possess ammo in the US.

All controlled parts require an Export permit and that can take up to 2 months to get, after you have got a export certificate from DFAIT and that, too, can take up to 2 months.

FWIW The US Border Patrol are stopping Canadian cars before they enter Canada and performing a search.

i ws in new hampshire about a month ago, and i dropped into a local shop, well my not-so-smooth travel buddy mentioned we were canadian and the guy refused to deal with me at all because 'canadians arnt allowed to own guns'.

You can try /www.1337tactical.com
You have to call them on the phone to make the order but they ship to Canada
without problems...

good to see you guys having fun with what I wrote. You know what was even better than CBSA ? When I crossed through the US side and I asked the guy at the US gate the same questions his reply was "just tell one of us what you want to bring across and there shouldn't be a problem" and "what do mean Canadians can't buy guns in America and bring them across the boarder ?" and finished it off with " Why not? "
