Hey all, I'm having a hell of a time trying to track down usgi parts for th ol' Norinco m-305. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

Write a letter to santa clause? Just kidding. Best bet is to post an ad on the ee. You could also check the ee every few mins for a while. I've seen a bunch of stuff on there go prettyt fast in the last month or so. If you are looking for a bolt, they can be like unicorn teeth in their rarity. Be patient

It's scary how HIGH the cost has gone up in the last several yrs ... I got a USGI bolt 5 yrs ago for $200 ... it's doubled that cost since! USGI parts are so hard to come by since 911 and the border issues ... :( :( :( Keep checking the bits & parts EE everyday you'll find stuff. ;)

If you want actual USGI, then you'll have to be quick on the EE. Otherwise, 762mmfirearms in the US is making new USGI-spec parts and will ship to Canada. Search back on some previous threads about bolts. I just received a gas assembly from them and it fit perfectly on my Criterion barrel. Nice dark park finish. Will be ordering a bolt from them shortly.

what parts do you need and unless you've been to one of the clinics, why do you think you need them? the 305 is pretty well ready to shoot right out of the box unless your rear sight isn't working properly, or the barrel is over-indexed, or the headspace is excessive- and that's all covered in the stickies; i hate to see a fella spend money on parts that are difficult to get or not needed ; because you read it somewhere or were told doesn't cut it;but what do i know?i've only had a norc since 1990 , and the real thing since before then ;my first goes back to 1970 or so; and it isn't a norc

No I mean all USGI parts ... you can import receivers you know ... ;) :p

You cannot import a USGI receiver - it's a prohibited device. You can import an American commercial-made M1A or M14S receiver, but it would not be USGI - not even close.

In fact, the Norinco receiver is pretty close to USGI, more so than many commercial US-made receivers ;)

I stand corrected.

If you want to save yourself a ton of money, buying bits and pieces, not what I did, buy one of the m14 prohibs for parts, saw a super nice TRW for around 12-1400.00 I think, and an LRB receiver 1200.00-1500.00 landed, put the 2 together and Bob's your uncle for close to the same as a match M1A. I also figure your saving buying a scope mount when you get an LRB M25, and as Art Laupino says, every m14 should have a rear lug.

i agree for the original poster for this info. Myself I think I'm going to go the LRB M25 receiver route, already got a barrel(in 243 cal), but will find other USGI parts I'm sure. Cheers,

Honestly for me , its not really about having the parts , its more or less the *potential* history behind the parts ..

Having the receiver is obviously illegal but the other parts i guess are more of an impulse buy or to make it a conversation piece .

All i know is that my norc op rod had minor play to it not enough to impede function but enough to annoy me , i installed an HR op rod and it is now tight to the rifle and looks a hell of alot better .

Unless you are going to match bed your rifle in a NM type stock and then never disassemble it until you are going to re-bed the rifle, a rear lug is a waste of time.

Anyone who has shot matches with these will tell you the accuracy gain is minimal or even debatable over a properly bedded receiver without rear lug.

FWIW...

Not everyone is in that class where they can buy a TRW. Are they not converted autos?
