where to mount ???

A quick question for the experts. I just picked up a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot 1x scope. I am mounting it on my 597 VTR and would like to know whether to mount it closer or further away from my eye ?? What is the benefit of both scenarios ?? Thanks for your help !!

mount it where you want it, works just as well either way,
