Where to source M14 parts? (again)

I'm a little shy to start another of these thread but I could finally finish my EBR project (after 2+ years) if I could just get some shim kits!

I checked:
-Brownells BO
-762mmfirearms BO
-treeline NA
-mountingsolutionsplus NA
-SAI webstore NA

Any other source for shim kits?

Beside, non-hooded NM rear aperture are hard to find as well...

Try Jerry at Mystic Precision.................he had shim kits at one time...........or make your own.......I have done that in the past.........
 
Marstar sells them, although like everything else on their websight they probably haven't had any in stock for 2-3 years. Most of us make them ourselves. You can get shimstock at most CT. If you are really stuck try Hungry, he is always happy to help out.

I spent 5 minutes on Marstar website but gave up since I could not find the search engine or the rifle parts section. I'll go back.

As for cutting my own, I doubt I'd do a nice job, even with your good advices. I'm more of a mechanic than an artist.

The marstar ones have to be cut to fit over the barrel all the way. A last resort source in my opinion.

An alternative to shims, and a more permanent solution is to gently peen the barrel's gas band shoulder, pushing a small but even amount of material forward. Then seat the gas cylinder and gas lock. This my preferred method over shimming.
As for NM apertures, RRA parts, Jwolfe, or put an add on the US forum ;)

RA parts and "M14 parts and armory" were already opened in my browser, waiting for business hours to call and ask if they support the canadian shooters. You're giving me hope!

Seems we hang around the same places Thomas! :p
 
I put my gas lock nut on the surface grinder, and took a couple of thou at a time till it was in the right position, re parked, and now it's tight like mouses ear.
