Where'd the Howa 1500 375 Ruger go?

I'm looking for a Howa 1500 stainless in 375 Ruger and can't seem to find one. Also looked on Legacy Sports website and they don't list any 375 Ruger that I could find.
Did Howa stop making these?
In a related note, Weatherby Vanguard in 375 H&H or Howa 1500 in 375 Ruger?
I wish the Weatherby Vanguard in 375 H&H came in stainless, then it'd be a gimme!

The HOWA 375 Ruger has been incredibly popular so perhaps there is a supply problem. HOWA is still making them though. Unless you just have to have a Monte Carlo stock I would go with the HOWA. Rifles are essentially the same and the Ruger is the superior cartridge.

I'm an equal opportunity kinda guy, a 375 bullet is going to have very similar external ballistics coming from either a 357 H&H or Ruger. I'm wanting stainless and that's steering me toward the Howa 375 Ruger. 375 H&H brass and dies do still seem to be more common than the 375 Ruger, but the Ruger still has decent availability.

My Howa 375 Ruger came from Prophet River and they are an excellent rifle, top notch quality and very accurate.
However, my Son made a swap with me and he now has it along with a lightweight Howa Alpine in 6.5 Creedmoor.
The Howa are a very well made rifle and now I'm looking forward to an Alpine in .308.

Oh,and for what it's worth there is nothing " superior " about the 375 Ruger, that's wishful thinking.
The 375 Ruger is a fine cartridge as is the 375 H&H, nothing more , nothing less.

Gatehouse is like a fat trout in a nice fishing hole. Just so happens that 375 Ruger is a good fly to use haha!
I have some 375 H&H components (brass and dies), but I prefer stainless if possible. There is always the option of a good coating job on the Vanguard though.

I bought a 375 H&H Remington Stainless and have hunted Africa with it 3 times now.........the best of all worlds...............Howa has most likely dropped that silly chambering, as every one knows it's dying anyway. Now that the Vanguard is being offered in the H&H I would expect you will soon see the Howa in the H&H as well and the Imposter will very shortly be forgotten.
You could always buy a Mossberg in 375 Imposter, I hear they're making them now............what a perfect match.........made in heaven as they say........

Yeah right, no Mossturd for me thanks!
I would prefer stainless, but I do already have the 375 H&H dies and a bunch of brass, so it'll likely be the Vanguard. I'm waiting till the Vanguard Dangerous Game version makes it to Canada as I want the upgraded stock.

What I'd really like is a Sako AIV Safari, but good luck prying those out of the owners hands, basically have to find one at an estate sale.

Although brass and dies for the 375 RUGER are just a phone call away, if you already have plenty of H&H brass, it may make sense to go that route. The H&H is obsolete, but will still kill stuff good and dead of course. :)

I wonder if all the Howa's went to African countries. On the African hunting page I'm on, it seems that someone is buying a Howa 375 Ruger every 3 days! They obviously like them over there, and I can see why, as it's a great rifle at an affordable rifle and offers the superior performance of the 375 Ruger.

I'm sure you will enjoy your Vanguard if you go that route, too.

Oh you mean like this.............It has been restocked very expensively, but metal is factory Sako Safari............375 is the one in the foreground

I've got a Sako AV, but it's the shorter barreled version, 21" or so. I'm a fan of the Howa 1500/Weatherby Vanguard, and wanted to try a 375 with a 24" or so barrel to see if the added velocity makes a difference.

The Howa 375 Ruger I had has a 20 " barrel and of the two 375 Rugers I had the Alaskan also had a 20 " and the Ruger African was 23 ".

Here are the two Howas, the 375 being the one in the background and the Howa Alpine in 6.5 CRM in front.
The 375 wears a 1.5-6 X 42 Swarovski and the Alpine a 3-9 Leupold.

Thanks medvedqc!
Looks like I'm loosing about 80 to 100 fps going from 20" to 24", which isn't too bad.
I'm shooting the 375 H&H out of a Sako AV with the 540mm (21 1/4") barrel so I'll likely only be giving up 70 fps or so over another H&H with a 24" barrel. Each rifle is unique to a point though, so time to get get testing!
If I really feel the need for speed I can always get a 375 RUM, but I don't see that happening!
