Where's all the powder??

putting a real location in your profile...

getting out from under the rock more often.

grouse river outfitters has some, at least the website claims they do.

Ya don't you love ppl that don't put a location in their profile. A real pet peeve of mine.

Location... ya... hmmm, how 'bout I also publish a list of my fears and a schedule of my activities. Oh and maybe even where I hide my secret key to my garage. :)

Since "Ont" as a location seem to be ok (even though that's 894,639 square kms) I'll go with Eastern Canada.

Thanks for the info though. I'll try Grouse River.

LOL, check the basement of any average gun nut, you'll find all the horded powder there... I've watched the supplies dwindle over the last few years from people hording, which has encouraged further hording by typical non-horders.
It's gotten so bad that whenever powder does come in, it's gone within a couple weeks. Higginson is the big supplier in Canada, and you know things are desperate when even the big guy runs out of Reloader-15!

I was keeping an eye on Higginsons as they were letting us know they would have powder by the end of February. Sure enough, it wasn't long before their stock list was easier to count by how much powder they had in stock versus out of stock. Every powder I use for every caliber I have is out of stock. Just popped into Calgary Shooting Centre yesterday and had to look into switching things up with my powder for 308. Can't find Varget to save my life, so I bought them out of Accurate 2495 to use for my plinking loads. Going to have to use my savings to horde powder the next time a batch makes it to Canada if things are going to keep running out quickly.

your on the internet, if people want your info they have it.

since your in ontario, try rouge river arms or williams arms.

If I could find 2400, hopefully at non scalper prices, I'd be a most contented individual.

Finding a single keg of Titegroup helped, though. At least I'll have pistol ammo for the next couple years.

Call or email Hummasons. Great prices on the powder and shipping, and decent selection as of late.

Most of the people who complain about availability buy it in tiny amounts and expect it to be available locally and cheap. Buy a keg and rest easy.

I'll try Grouse River.

Just a heads up on Grouse River...

They are great people to deal with, communication is top notch, but after ordering from them several times I've realized that they list EVERYTHING in stock ALL THE TIME. Or perhaps it might be better to say that they list everything they can offer on their website, but don't differentiate between what's in stock or "out of stock".

Every online order I've placed with them has been followed by a phone call one or two days later to tell me that either part of my order or all of it isn't in stock and that they have no definitive ETA.

I'm by no means discouraging you from going to them - they are great - but I would call in an order over the phone to see that they actually have what you need in stock. If you go online and are all relieved because it actually took your order for 150lbs. of RL-15, I guarantee your phone is gonna ring in the next 48 hrs.

Good folks to deal with, but their website is misleading and pisses me off.

Name one big guy that has had any volume of Alliant powder in the last 18 months? FS

Maybe I am a donkey (quite possible) but I've contact some of the companies you guys are talking about and they all seem to be out. Lawrys had some listed - tried to order -poof not in stock. Higginsons (yes the news and updates page) doesn't seem to show anything. I thought I was looking hard, but having trouble. Maybe it is just the specific stuff I am looking for. I did pick some new powder up tonight locally...going to post another thread asking about it. :)

My favourite store surprised me when in on Saturday they told me they had a powder order arrive. Asked what they had, replied what do you want so bought a couple of pounds of Varget as it is so versatile. Seems they had a decent cross section of powder arrive so many will now be happy.

What powder shortage? I picked up 2 pounds of 7828 at Lebaron in Ottawa on the weekend. They had primers too. At least I don't think I was dreaming...

I have started to see more and more trickle in various IMR and Hodgdon are sure bets and even found R15, R17 and R19. The guys that had the Alliant powders want $50/lb. It can be so hit and miss with the alliant stuff that I am not sure I want to play with it too much for fear of never finding it again.

Grouse River have been practicing their "in stock" online spam for years . May be fine folks but they do not even rate a call in my opnion, other online retailers can find the time to update their web site, not as if there are any major discounts to justify the total lack of respect ..

My brother work in Wholesale Sport

their stock for powder come in then run empty next day (I manage to got one).

what happen was that Wholesale didn't get full order from manufacturing (only 20% of order or so), and said that most of products go into USA.

bullet is also empty for 303 British, but my brother said he can order for me

I picked up a pile last year at Hummason's in Ancaster, ON. I really regret not buying a lot more,
as the price I paid then has nearly doubled for the same powders. They used to have sales on weekly,
or so it seemed, but now all they have on their advertised sales page is clothing...
