Where's My Screw?

I bought a Ruger Precision for my son. Checked the gun out. Cleaned the bolt and the barrel and set it up for him. He/I shot about 400 rounds through it. It drizzled a bit on it yesterday so I went to disassemble it. I take the front bedding screw out. And I'm looking for the rear screw to take it out. It's no where to be found. I shine a light in the hole where it is supposed to be and it doesn't even look like it was ever even installed.

Anyone else ever buy a new gun that was missing a part? It's pretty dark in that spot where it goes but it still seems a little odd that they either forgot to install it or it was so poorly installed that it fell out. Although I'm fairly certain I would have noticed a screw backing out or falling out. It only ever went from inside the gun case onto the table.

That’s a real bummer, I am sure someone will be along shortly to help with thread pitch/screw size.
As to your question about guns missing screws I was handling a Thomson Center rifle of some sort at a firearms counter and noticed right away that an action screw was missing. I alerted the clerk who shrugged, and put it back in the display cabinet.
I was unimpressed.

Good luck sorting yours out. How did it shoot?

It shoots magnificently. I'm confident I can use it for the 1/2" at 50 yards challenge. The three best brands I've tested so far are CCI MiniMags, BBM/RWS Semi Auto, and surprisingly CCI Stingers. I'm certain I can beat the challenge with one of those. I haven't taken it out to 100 yards yet. And my 6 year old son's groups at 50 yards are typically right around 1-2". As long as he's focused. The adjustability allows him to use it comfortably and I can change it to my size in about 2 seconds.
