i have an sks and id like to know what country its from if anyone can help me.

on the receiver theres the serial number CN###K (the "N" is backwards) and there is a star stamped about an inch to the right of that.

thanks

i figured the backwords "N" looked kinda cyrillic (spelled right?), but figured it coulda been any number of soviet bloc countries. thanks eos.

im looking for a wood stock for it (gaaaawd i hate aftermarket plastic). would any sks stock fit it?

Could also be un-laminated arctic birch.

not the sks with the star on the side of receiver.

from my written research:

the original stock was made of solid arctic birch hardwood ,
usually reddish/dark brown/lighter brown patchy
looking, this type of wood had a tendency to split at
the wrist, i have yet to find out what cause this problem
however they didnt realize the problem till near the
end of production so by late 1955 the Arctic birch was
replaced by laminated wood on the assembly line and also when refurbishing, the
laminated wood are heavier , stronger and those
stripes are awesome looking, haha, however a collector
would prefer the original birch for years early 55 and prior.
