Thinking of putting a bull barrel on one of the 10/22's for some target shooting, but seems there are a number of manufacturers and a few lengths to choose from. Can anyone with experience on them recommend which ones may be the better (or not so better) choices?

I havent had the pleasure of shooting a tactical solutions barrel.

I have used Green Mountain and Buttler Creek Barrels though.

GM is heavy, and super accurate. Really accurate. But not all ammo will extract without firing it.

The BC barrels are headshot on a gopher at 200 accurate and you can clear most ammo. I find they are a bit cheaper too. But stay away from the carbon fibre ones unless you have a very rigid free floating stock. Those barrels flew like crazy.

I would tend to go with GM. In my opinion superior to the BC - much better value as well. In terms of lenghths all of them (16, 18, 20) are all going to shoot about the same, it just narrows down to you in terms of what you want for overall weight, balance, and look of the gun. If you do decide to go with BC just stay away from their carbon fibre barrel as Babyseal mentioned.

Recently installed a GM 20" plain bull barrel with a Boyd's Evolution stock on one of my 10/22's. VERY PLEASED with the results...easy 0.5" 10 shot groups at 50 yards with cheapo AE 40 gr RN ammo! It just doesn't chamber 40 gr hollow points, as I found out (in my case, the CCI Subsonic HP).

He is an importer for Green Mountain.
He will answer all your questions.

Green Mountain make barrels for a lot of companies.....Butler Creek included, to Butler Creek's Specs though.

I have a 16" Green Mountain Fluted and a 20" Green Mountain Fluted.
Both are extremely accurate with the 20" being more muzzle heavy.

Buy one of each :D

Hope this helps.

I got a 20" Stainless Fluted GM on my 10/22, it's been great, very accurate and 100% with CCI Blazers.

Ya, I'm thinking with all the choices out there I may have to get several:). I liked the Trail Blazer stock by Revolution in grey, but whether a straight bull barrel, or fluted, or one of those vented aeros, or a tactical solutions with the compensator I can't decide. Kinda had thought the longer the more accurate, but the 16" and 18" are about as accurate as the 20"?
Already talked with Bits of Pieces - they may or may not be getting any more of those stocks, and some of the barrel choices are on their way.
