Not strictly a hunting question, but I do plan on doing some hunting in black bear/cougar country in the US where one can wilderness carry. I want to bring a pistol, but don't know if my Glock 20 in 10mm should accompany me, or my 4.25" Ruger GP100 in .357 Mag. The Glock would be 10rnds vs. 6 for the Ruger.

The other option would then have to be projectiles, depending on which gun I take:

10mm
Buffalo Bore 180gr JHP (ME=728, MV=1350)
or
Buffalo Bore 220gr Flat Nose/Hard Cast (ME=703, MV=1140)

.357 Mag
Buffalo Bore 180gr Flat Nose/Hard Cast (ME=783, MV=1400)
or
Buffalo Bore 158gr JHC (ME=763, MV=1485)

So which gun and bullet would you all take for hunting/camping in black bear and cougar country?

Thanks for the help

If you were in the states you could pick up a 15 round G20 mag , I would prefer the Glock with a 220 gr hard cast bullet to wilderness carry because the lighter weight and higher round capacity. The power of the cartridges is pretty similar .
