Armco has a nearly new COLT Gold Cup Trophy in Stainless for sale.

I never really noticed that one cause there's no write up nor price on the site unless I'm blind. Lol.

Good looking and best trigger "right out of the box" got to be the Kimber. Am a fan of .45's and like most of us "pistoleros", once we fire a 1911, there's no turning back. My shooter friends's all have Colts, Norinco's, STI's and they are all great to fire.
This isn't your first pistol so, IMO, no need to figure out the 1911 platform slowly. With your budget, my suggestion is to get a piece that not only shoots well, but has the looks/value to go with it.
I like Para, but my smith doesn't. He would prefer STI, SVI or DW's. For STI, the Spartan shoots great, has a lot of features that are standard, but, IMO, for long term value, consider the Trojan instead for slightly more coin. Have fun shopping and post pics when you make your choice. Happy shooting!!!!

I just happened to go to Al Simmons gun shop today to pick up some ammo and low and behold they had a brand new Colt 1911A1 Government Series 1991 in stainless steel that they just got in for $1,189. So I bought it. :dancingbanana:

Just like this one.

FWIW as good as a looker and a shooter as my Gold Cup Trophy was, the slide to frame fit was just horrible. It was a rattle box with lots of play. Unacceptable to me for a $1000+ 1911. Its been replaced with a Springfield MC Operator and thats tight as it can be, no play, and is a real tackdriver.

Pictures of both, because I can.

New VZ Operator II grips are comming for the Springer, pics to follow.

I'm happy to say that the fit on the two COLT's I own is excellent and the out of the box reliability has been the best of all the 1911's I've owned. That includes guns from STI, Kimber and Les Baer.

Congrats! Great to see that you ended up grabbing the Colt. Heck, what am I saying?? Glad to see you've picked up shooting the handgun. Enjoy, and like it has been said in the above, don't forget the picks. Cheers.

Para ordnance 1911 .45 acp , just orderd mine, had one in our shop for a while and i spent alot of time fondeling it, very nice and we retail them here for $719.99, our rep said they are very popular ipsic guns, casue they are easy to add on parts and upgrade, over all its a sweet gun, i like it and would defenitly suggest one

You're refering to the Para GI Expert I assume? That was one of my candidates but when the original .45 was available I couldn't resist.

Para Ordnance in my opinion makes really nice pistols. I had a 9mm converted into a 38 Super, very accurate. If I was going to buy another 1911 it would be a Para or STI.
