I have decided I'm going to remove the scope from my Brno zkk in 30/06 and use the irons and pop up peep this year. I dug out most of my 30 cal bullets and have lots of 180gr - 220grs. I have a few different powder options, Imr 4350, imr 4831, H4831, imr4064 and Wlr primers. I'm just looking to play around with the heavier bullets and the iron sights and do some plinking. Not looking for top speeds. Might even use the Lee loader and a scoop haha! I thought it might be fun to get opinions on how you would load up your test rounds if you had these options?

Save the Partition’s for critter hunting, replacing those is a costly affair these days.

4350 and the 220’s can get you close to 2400 with out a lot of doing, heck I managed 2380 with 220’s from a 20” bbl.

4831 is a bit slow for the 30/06 H or IMR, and 4064 works good for lighter pills or reduced loads but for 180’s on up look to 4350.

Post a range report when you can, have fun

4350 and 180gr bullets are a proven combo in 30-06. 4064 is good with 165gr bullets, and 180gr are no slouch either.

The 220gr bullets are useful in 30-06 and 4831 could work well with them.

Years ago I used H4831 with 180gr because my loading manual said it gave top velocity. Later when I got a chronograph and learned that wasn't true in my rifles.
