Which 30-06 for Ontario???

Excuse me there Spanky, this is a serious thread the guys asking for info. Take your trash talk outta this thread.

I can't hear you I'm sleeping.

Ok guys time to get serious there for a minute. im not someones else but who this name is. I don't have any multi personality disorder as someone suggested last night. I am here giving this guy some advice, and trying to make him aware if he already is not about the malfunctions with the 750

30-06

Hi there. I have two Rem.760 Carbine pumps from the 1960s. I scoped them both and just can't get over how accurate they are and how well they perform in the field.

If you want an "as new" 30-06 pump, you may want to contact Tikka. He has an old 760 Remington in 30-06. It's not a carbine, but sports the regular 22" barrel. This gun is absolutely as new. Just a suggestion. Good luck.

Wow

Wow I can't beleive this thread is still going! Allow me to bring you guys up to speed here with what i've done. I bought a used but mint condition Remington 700 CDL in 30-06 and took it out for a few days last deer season. I found it to be a little awkward with its 24" barrel in the woods that I normally hunt.

I own a Marlin 336C in 30-30 for the long walks in the woods, so I bought this Remington 700 for moose and open field deer shots. That being said I still find the 24" barrel too long, so I think I am going to find a good gunsmith to cut it down and re-crown it to 22".

I think a Remington 700 CDL with a 22" barrel and a 3-9X40 scope would be a really nice rifle for big game in Ontario. Please dont tell me that I am butchering the rifle or lowering its re-sale value drastically because I really dont plan to sell it after its cut down. I have allready been trying to sell it but I would have to take a mojor bath on what I paid for it!!!

congrats on the new gun savage hope it performs to your liking after u have the barrel chopped

Im in a toss up!!!

I actually dont think im gonna cut down my CDL anymore, im gonna sell it to someone who is looking for a excellent condition Rem 700 CDL in 30-06 with a 24" barrel!!! ;)

I am getting a calling to own a Remington 7600 pump in 30-06. After holding one at the local shop and reading what guys have said about their accuracy and reliability im sold. I would consider this to be a great Ontario rifle for deer, moose and bear. I own an 870 so its a natural transition for me. Top it with a good 2-7X32 or 3-9X40 and im laughing.

I own a Marlin 336 in 30-30 with open sights for the long walks or thick bush. I think a 7600 in 30-06 would be the perfect compliment for longer shots on deer or moose.

Anyone looking for an excellent condition Remington 700CDL in 30-06? Cmon!!!
